Thanks for posting a photo. If I had to choose between a food looking good or tasting good, I will take tasting good everytime! And I don't think it looks that bad at all.

Well, I made the strawberry pie, and it was a bit of a mess. As much as I love to cook, I don't generally do desserts, and you can see why: I'm not good at it. The pie was absolutely delicious, but the innards turned to liquid. I was basically a strawberry soup with two pie crusts. However, that warm strawberry slop and crust in a bowl with vanilla ice cream was pretty damn delicious.

Pigiron,
Great picture of your boy! Brings back memories of goin' berry pickin' with our kids when they were that age. They eat more than they bring home but that's what it's all about!
Also, sounds like BB is hinting around for maybe a piece of pie shipped FedEx!

We spent this past Sunday at the Sussex County Strawberry Farm (in New Jersey). The berries were not huge, but they were perfect in every way. I think I'm going to attempt Strawberry Pie tonight with our big haul. Shortcake is too much work. Here's a picture of my boy- the red shirt is no accident. We chose it to hide all the strawberry stains.

By the way, we stumbled on a FANTASTIC gastropub called Salt in Stanhope, right down the road from the strawberry farm. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Now here's a day we can all rally around!
The problem is those tasteless, Genetically Engineered Strawberries!
How many of you still have access to good old fashioned wild strawberries that you and your Grandma used to go out and pick?
There's still some cultivated strawberry patches around where you can go "Pick your own". Any in your area? Tell us your berry pickin' stories. How many of you grow your own?
