post pics of the fan on top and how it was flashed to the roof. truck looks great. just need enough drop on one low end that the grease goes to the cup. does not need to be level. thats very important.

The smokestack vent that came with the hood was 10x10. We mounted it on the roof.

Thanks Ricardo. It looks like we both have a little work still lol. We just installed our hood, have electrical and plumbing almost finished. The walls and ceiling are going up next. Then it's the gas lines. It's taking us a lot longer than we expected, but we want it done right! I have tons of pictures and will post them as soon as I can. Look forward to seeing more of your as well as all others.

Thanks Jack, I sent a couple pics. After several phone calls to the hood place, they realized they didn't give the the mounting bracket. After I got that, it went up pretty easy.

never heard of a hood that didn't have any sort mounting brackets, well then in that case, get a really good 1/2" steel drill bit, some cutting lube and drill 4 - 8 holes in it, 4 in the top corners & 4 in the back wall of it. get some all thread, 3/4, and some uni strut and spring washers and drill through the roof of the truck THROUGH the studs and some lock nuts & washers

Getting info from the company who made the hood is "like pulling teeth". Sorry, I'm just frustated!!

Didn't come with any pre-drilled holes, the ceiling is aluminum with beams?

I wrote and posted this right on top of (same time) WildDog so don't think everyone is piling on LOL

It better be flush on the ceiling and back wall or you'll have a grease trap that you can never get into to clean. Didn't it come with pre-drilled holes to mount it to your ceiling? Should be a hole on all four corners. But you have never said what your ceiling is like so no one could give you any real advice. Nor does anyone know what your doing for an exhaust fan wall, roof, how big is your collar and who is going to cut the hole in the wall or roof. $600.00 may be cheap if it gets done correctly. And if it's not done right you could have a roof leak every time it rains or snows. Lots to consider.......other parts of a build are a lot easier to do and take less expertise (in my mind) than cutting a hole in a roof or wall and mounting a stainless steel hood (heavy) and an important part of your system. Just my thoughts.

CALL HOODMART. THEY HAVE A LINK THEY CAN SEND YOU TO GIVE YOU SOME IDEAS, I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT THE LINK NAME IS THOUGH. YOU MIGHT WANT TO ASK THE INSTALLER, IF YOU TELL THEM YOU RE SHORT ON MONEY THEY MIGHT WORK WITH YOU. i INSTALLED MINE, AND IT TOOK A BOUT 2 HOURS. FLUSH AGAINST THE BACK WALL AND CARRIAGE BOLT IT TO THE BODY OF THE TRUCK, RUN BOLTS ALL THE WAY THROUGH, HANG IT WITH ALL THREAD. This is a very important part of the build. if you don't know what you are doing with it and it falls, you are SOL

Thanks everyone, but my main concern is attaching it to the ceiling, and or, wall?? What supports it? Can I flush it right to the ceiling? I had my hood custom made and getting info from them on the installation is like pulling teeth!! I was hoping someone could throw me some ideas.

Welcome to roadfood. There are several threads some with pictures on vent hoods and exhaust fans. Try going to the top of the page and do a search. You'll find lots of good stuff.

My husband and I are in the process of building a food truck. I've read a lot of valuable information here but cannot find much info on the installation of the vent hood. We are trying not to have to pay someone to install it (it's about $600). I would appreciate any info anyone has to offer. I hope to also post pics soon of our progress so far.
