I haven' been in a long while but the last time I was in a Chili's they have a electronic device on each table. You can't order from it but you can pay your bill with it. It has games and such too but I wouldn't use them after seeing kids sneeze on them and worse

Does it seem counter-intuitive that a place like Buffalo Wild Wings, where you primarily eat messy things with your hands, would put iPads at their tables? Yeesh.

As for the question, I would hate it. I much prefer to order from an actual person, to make sure we both understand exactly what is being ordered and what (if any) substitutions are going to happen. Although when I'm eating out alone, I wouldn't mind something to do while I sit there that wasn't staring at a TV I can't hear or wearing down the battery on my phone amusing myself until my food comes.

How would you like to sit down at a restaurant and place your order via an iPad? Good idea or not?

I like the idea because I could add the notation... NO CILANTRO!!!

But...

Would it cut down on service from the wait staff?

Would it affect tips ?

How would restaurants keep people from walking out with their ipads? Chains aren't very attractive.

While waiting for your food you could play Angry Birds and ignore your friends.
