Have you been to Yoder's restaurant? It is an Amish restaurant with huge portions, great homemade pies, fried chicken and other delights. I always order a piece of homemade butterscotch pie when I dine there. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and their whole pies are available for takeout. Even our Amish friends from Pennsylvania eat there when they visit Sarasota. Please remember that they are closed on SUNDAYS.

I have been many times to the Frosted Mug, but in traffic on 41 it can take awhile.

Don't take 41 all the way down. Go most of the way on I-75, then cut back west to 41.

I'll agree, Too jays is pretty good, but they have so many
locations I wasn't going to mention it.
They actually have more Florida East Coast locations than West Coast. Caragiuglo's is very good!, lots of Italian here.
I have been many times to the Frosted Mug, but in traffic on 41 it can take awhile.
The Hob-Nob Drive- in, mentioned before is the same idea, its been there over 50 years.
Munchies 420 Cafe, is a fun, hole in the wall place with

I'll second QFan's Toojay's recommendation. Another place you may want to try is Caragiuglo's downtown. While not roadfood per se, it is relatively reasonable and does satisfy those who think (or like me , thought) you can't get authentic Italian food outside of the Northeast or Chicago.

If you're willing to travel about 30 minutes south of Sarasota, there is a great little roadside place in Venice called "The Frosted Mug". It's at 1856 Tamiami Trail S (U.S. 41) on the south side of Venice. It's an old roadside place that gets a mix of locals and bikers. Very good grilled chicken, peppers, and onions sub. Also, good root beer served in frosted mugs.

places on Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island, just North of
St. Armands Circle.

Thanks Mike~ I figured Pho was plain and simple! But probably great food and prices. The prices in this area (Sarasota FL) are definitley higher than here in Cocoa Beach (FL) in comparible places!

Yes....Just down the street from Pho. Outdoor seating and
above average food & live music. Mattison is a local chef with 3 or 4 different restaurants. There are other types of restaurants downtown and on St Armands Circle, only minutes from DT.
BTW, Pho is not fancy...just a storefront Vietnamese cafe

Yes, I know it's a chain, but Toojays deli/restaurant on U.S. 41 south is pretty darn good! Huge portions, reasonably priced and a terrific bakery.
It's worth checking out.
