Tap water in San Diego is Dreck! I wouldnt drink tap water if I was dying of thirst!
Bottled water is the ONLY way to go!

Water quality and taste also differs in different parts of Los Angeles County. I'm lucky as water straight from the tap tastes great.

I have not had the water from that area, but I have heard bad things from a few friends who used to live there. I lived in Columbia for five years during college (in a different apartment each year), and even within the same relatively small city boundary, I experienced a variety of different water qualities and tastes, so it's definitely not hard to imagine the water being so much different in a separate part of the state.

Flavor drops, powders, scotch, whatever would not help it. It had so much sulphur in it that it tasted and smelled like rotten eggs.

A perfect example of why there is a need for bottled water.

We have had a reverse osmosis filtration system for several years now and love it. We use it for everything including watering the plants. We are both big water drinkers, no pop at all, but we do add scotch in the evening!

I don't know that I agree with the original poster's assertion that Americans are the stupidest consumers ever simply because flavor drops exist. Flavor drops are a good way to occasionally give your water a little bit of flavor for those times that you just want to drink something tasty. I certainly don't mean to advocate the use of water enhancers every time someone drinks water, as I think that an appreciation of plain, clean water is a very important thing to maintain, especially in a nation of relative privilege. But I don't see how the mere existence of water enhancers somehow corrupts the American opinion of water. Perhaps some of the advertising is a bit too close to the "replace your boring old water" approach, but I have always believed that it is the responsibility of the end user - not the supplier - to regulate consumption and avoid overuse. Enhanced waters are a beverage just like anything else, and those who drink soft drinks but claim to have a problem with occasionally adding a few drops of flavoring into their water are inconsistent, at best.

Anyway, if you are interested in trying out a water enhancer or two, you may want to look into alternatives to what you can find in your local superstore. MiO and Crystal Light are great choices, but there are a lot more options out there for the adventurous drink taster, some of which are even organic and have added health benefits. They're a little bit harder to find, but they're usually worth it when you do come across them.

I have a well with awesome water! The local piped water sucks and i have several neighbors who send the kids over with jugs to fill---i even bought a special real rubber hose just for drinking out of so they can get it from the spigot if i am not home! ---and with it being a deep well i get plenty cool water fast! :) ---and usually carry some sugar free flavor packets--raspberry or lemonade with me in the car if i get bored with plain water---which i rarely do!

I am opposed to bottled water because of people being lazy. Everywhere I look I can see discarded plastic water bottles. Most of the bottled water is just plain tap water with a label.

the only flavored water i drink is tea or herbal drinks. The only water I have to have flavored is soda water. Plain soda water makes me gag. I think its because my body is used to carbonated water having flavor. I just cant drink a bottle of perrier like most people do

At my workplace, we have bottled water that is quite good, so I have that most days. This summer I weaned myself off sweet tea and made my own plain black tea flavored with fruity herbal teas. I brew one quart of water, pour it over 1 family size teabag and 2-3 herbal fruit teabags and let them steep for about 5 minutes. Remove the large teabag and let the herbal bags brew for another hour or so. I use Stash Blueberry, Lemon Ginger, Celestial Seasonings Wild Berry Zinger (my favorite), Country Peach and Lemon Zinger. My own brand of "flavored water!"

I love water! Plain water! As long as in Dallas, it's filtered. I may have recommended the use of adding flavors but, I don't necessarily adhere to their use.

Using anyone of the many various flavor extracts available at places like Penzy's and supermarkets, it should be no problem concocting your own flavored drops. A hell of a lot cheaper, too!

I don't find the taste of truly pure water boring at all, but consider the taste of public/tap water revolting. I've had a home distillation system for several years and love the pristine, refeshing water it affords. Plus, it's already there for use in steam irons, baby formulas for guests, etc. I enjoy an occasional soft drink as much as anyone, but can't imagine adding flavor drops to a delicious glass of water.

Our water is so good I drink it directly from the tap. I even sometimes add a little bit to my bourbon.

Ha! Here in Dallas, it's just the opposite! We'd have to add a little bit of bourbon to our regular tap water to make it taste better!.
