I never buy either Dryer's (the worst of the lot) or Breyer's anymore.
I buy Bluebell because it's always on sale at my Kroger store in Dallas. And, If I want to splurge on both fat and $$, I'll buy Hagen-Daz.

Re:Breyers and Sealtest (ChrisOC)

I remember when Breyer's was a really good ice cream. You could bend a spoon trying to get a scoop out of the box. Now they have it so fluffed up with air, it's like soft serve.
Re:Breyers and Sealtest (phlmaestro)

Breyers, Sealtest and Abbots were the three brands I remember being popular in Philly when I was growing up. I won't eat Breyers any more. They went way downhill after they were bought out and moved out of town.
Re:Breyers and Sealtest (Twinwillow)

I agree! I grew up with Breyer's ice cream and loved it. Back then, it didn't have all the crap in it that it has now. I loved seeing that big spearmint leaf logo outside my favorite candy store, "Wall's" on Lenox Road at the corner of Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn.
Breyers and Sealtest (sunnyside jack)

Actually just finished some Breyers Peach. Back in Sunnyside Queens NY there were two candy stores across the street from each other. The one had Breyers (Bennett's Candy Store) and did a great business, the other had Sealtest and was always empty, even though a major bus line stopped in front of the store. Seems if I remember correctly, Breyers always outsold Sealtest and was more available in stores and served more frequently in restaurants. That used to be a favorite dessert-a dish of ice cream. Now you have Creme Brulee, flaming this and that, carrot cake, etc. I liked it when life was simple.
