I built my whole truck for maybe $3000. Also, you must make sure you are REAL friendly with the people you work with, it gets very cramped in a food truck or trailer
Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (happyhotdogs)

We're thinking around 12K...for this first one, we discussed 10K...what do you guys think?

Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (jcheese)

I'm starting to think about building a "Winter Cart". Call me a wimp, but I don't go out if the forecast is less than 50f, or rainy, or windy. I like Lorna's design. Only need me in it, and would still just sell dogs. Use the steam table heat to keep me warm. I hate cold.
Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (BpCBlake)

 nice. for how much?
I love them. but my church cant afford over 20 grand for one.
Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (happyhotdogs)

My partner and I built a 52" x 10' enclosed hot dogger and we wished we had 2' more on the width...it works, but 2' would have been great. Our first build and we learned A LOT the hard way. I wouldn't have any reservations in building a second one! In fact, if anyone is interested, we've discussed building these during the off season...

If interested, let me know. We may sell our first one (at a discount) to fund our new and improved version ;)
Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (BpCBlake)

buy the parts from bens carts and build one yourself.
thats what they use to build thier carts.
they also sell the instructions on how to build and insulate it.

Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (SDJunkMan)

I have an 8' x 14', and it has more room than I need. We usually have 2 people working, but ocasionally have 3. It also depends on how much room your sinks take up. I have a Freezer on the back wall, and the hand sink and triple sink all have bowls about the size of a drop in bar sink and are on the front wall. If you didn't need the freezer (and I really don't, but it was in the trailer when I got it) and used smaller sinks, you wouldn't need as much room.
I don't think I would get any smaller than 7' x 10' for 2 people though.
Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (THE WILD DOG)

you can, yoiu just have to wait and search one out. we just had one for sale in my area for 10k OBO I went and looked at it, but didn't have enough cash and decided i didn't want to get a loan for it. Just be patient and do lots of homework. it will pay off !
Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (BpCBlake)

I wish I could get that. Here an enclosed trailer has to go by the same rules as a food truck, i.e. a fire escape hatch in the roof, and a full vented hood with fire suppressant system built in. There is even a spec on how wide the doors and aisle must be, and minimum inside height. Read it all before putting any money into anything.
Re:Enclosed hot dog trailer (jcheese)

Just trying to get out of the weather during winter? Keep it simple, that seems to work, tho you didn't mention coolers. If you're running two carts, you know what you need. Just box that in. As far as two people go, depends if you are in love.
Enclosed hot dog trailer (WorldsBest)

I have two hot dog carts and want to buy an enclosed trailer. Anybody work out of an enclosed trailer? Is a 6'X10' too small for two people or would a 7'X12' be better? CCI and CMS back east look like very nice trailers but they are expensive! Also most enclosed trailers are not set up to work, the sinks take up too much room and not enough room for equipment. My ideal set up would be one side wall with propane36' flat griddle, two eyeball burner, three well gas steam table, the rest of the wall to fit in the four sinks. Any feedback? Thanks
