(felix4067)

Yup, liking or hating cilantro is actually a genetic thing. There is no medium, either...if you like it, you love it. If you're the rest of us, it tastes like waxy lemon soap. Blech. I've gotten to the point where I can choke down a couple of pieces, if it was used as a decoration on top of some salsa, but I can't eat anything in which it's an actual ingredient.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/14/dining/14curious.html?_r=0
Re:What's for BREAKFAST...??? (CCJPO)

The "why" of Spam is primarily due to the fact that there was very little fresh meat to serve to the troops during World War II, therefore it was necesary to either provide canned meat or let the troops depend on their hunting skills to provide meat for themselves. My father used to talk about eating local game, horse, skinny ass cattle, whatever could be had while he was in France and Germany during the war. Spam was the alternative. It then became very popular in the Islands for the same reason, little or no fresh meat available. Spam or SOS was a staple for sunday morning breakfast at our home. I still eat both today, although my preferred is SOS. My beautiful bride and our two sons refuse/refused to eat eiter, however the grandchildren love both of them. I guess there is no accounting for taste!!!!!
