It is nice to see a variety of snack & bread products that could never ever get shelf-space (going against a corporate giant) finally become available.

Though it was only a temporary specialty from several years ago; the Apple Cupcakes.

The Angel Cakes, which were seasonal and from even longer ago, also were unique.

The old Twinkie taste (the sweeter creme). Chocodiles. The orange cupcakes too. Suzy-Q's

Then, of course, the basic Drake's line: Devil Dogs, Yankee and Sunny Doodles, Ring Dings, Yodels, the unique, kosher mini-pies, and from years ago, the swiss rolls, and from even further back, the strawberry and banana Shortcakes (the fake Twinkies, basically). Lemon cookies

Yellow Zingers
Banana ["flip"] Dream (inherited from Mickey)

Here in NYC, Joey's (from NJ) and Mrs Freshley's (Flowers 3d party distribution label) have taken over the Hostess/Drake's racks
Recent news has the earlier named two most likely pursuers; Flowers and Bimbo, still looking into buying. Hope they resurrect all the cake brands/products.

I'll miss the two pack of chocalte cupcakes the most.

I'm kind of sad I'll never again be able to eat a frozen twinkie. Unless I find one way in the back of my freezer.

One thing's for sure, if they take Little Debbie away I don't wanna live on this planet anymore.

Ding Dongs and Ho Hos

I tried some Little Debby Swiss Rolls a few weeks ago, they were better than they were when I tried them the first time years ago, but still not as good as Ho Hos. Too sweet or something.

The Convenience store always has Tastykake @ 2/$6 and I always buy a box of Cream-filled Coffee Cakes. The last time I tried the new Kandy Kakes (York)...

Check the best by/sell by date. Drake's is not long enough to still be considered fresh. The last exp. date I saw for Drake's coffee cakes was 11/28.

God forgive me...I never liked anything from Hostess and my Mother cursed Wonder Bread every time she walked by it in the Supermarket.

I was surprised by the level of quality of Little Debbie cakes when I first tried them around the turn of the century, especially based on the low price. The ingredients are usually pretty decent for that sort of thing. Speaking of "that sort of thing", unfortunately (for me) I stopped eating it about 3 years ago, but I didn't touch Drakes or Hostess from the time I found Little Debbie to the time I stopped eating "snack cakes" altogether.

Many of the Hostess snacks you can make a good copycat with some yellow or chocolate cake mix and some marshmallow cream. But not the Snowballs. I will miss them.

For me it'll be Drake's Devil Dogs. But the Hostess fried lemon pies and the chocolate Zingers, which I like when I can't get Devil Dogs will be missed. I've never had any of the other Hostess snack things. I've been accused of being the only human being in the world who has never tasted a Twinkie -- or wanted to.

Edited to change pie to lemon. I originally wrote pineapple, but I must have been thinking about the long gone Frisbie Pie Company.

Little Debbie's Chocolate Pudding Pies are like hostess used to be, good flavor and no after negative after taste.

Of the Hostess Products I will miss

ZINGERS - Chocolate or Orange
Fried Peach Pies
Fried Lemon Pies
Old formula ding dongs, twinkee and cupcakes

The new formulas tasted like nothing.
I miss my zingers though

Sorry....for me................it is the Twinkie. Plain old sponge-type cake infused with ersatz whipped cream/icing/vanilla sauce........call it what you will.........not only did it taste goood, it brought back memories. Like the cans of baby smoked oysters my friend would buy at S.S. Pierce...hated them!..........or the magal Easter Eggs of spun sugar also there with the little view inside. Or walking into Swift's Market where they mostly did meats but kept a few things on the shelf, including Twinkies for those hungry young paperboys about to start off delivering copies of the Enterprise.

If anyone can place the location......they get bonus points!

I will miss Drake's coffee cakes as well as these...

Drake's Fruit Pies...one of our few purchased fried pie options....

With the patient expert help of the Fried Pie Lady of Flippin (really) Arkansas this summer...this New Jersey girl can now fry a pie with the best of them.

They're a bit pricey, but try Entemann's; they even have lemon.
