I wish I could tell you. I honestly don't remember a whole lot about it other than general location and really good burgers. And hand-cut fries, if that helps.

Felix, was that the Hunter House in downtown Birmingham? A little white building where Woodward splits coming south out of town. One of my favorites, along with Bates Burgers. Still haven't tried Millers Bar. I don't remember JIB in Michigan either, but 5 Guys are starting to show up around here. A good burger, but I didn't think it lived up to the hype. Two of my local favorites are Burger Street on Hill Rd. in Flint and Jumbos bar in downtown Owosso. Both just straight forward good burgers without all the gimmicks.

In my opinion the best two burgers in that state are Millers Bar in Dearborn http://www.millersbar.com/ and Bates http://www.batesburgers.com/ in Livonia. Bates in my opinion is the best I have ever had. Yes even better than Crabills : http://www.crabillshamburgers.com/...Russ

Well, my location.... Fox River Valley is vague too!!! That encompasses about 20 towns spread over 30 miles or so!

Oh, absolutely! Detroit is weird, though. All the little cities that make up the metro area tend to keep to themselves instead of embracing the big picture. Like here, where I live...Grand Rapids encompasses about a dozen smaller cities and towns, and we all just go with that. In Detroit, they make sure you know which smaller city or town they're from.

Isn't Warren in the metro area of DTW? That's why I said hundreds. Just like I live on the far fringe of Chicago, I can think of 30 good places to get a non franchise burger just in my area.

There might not be hundreds, but there are at least dozens. Of course, that must have been ages ago, since I can't remember there being a JIB in Michigan any time in the last 30 years. My sister lived there for most of the 1980's, and there wasn't one. We always got burgers at this little hole in the wall whose name escapes me, but it was run by an old Polish guy and his wife. Not exactly in the same neighbourhood as mentioned above, but just down the street around 14 Mile and Woodward, maybe Southfield. Bugs me I can't think of the name now.
