Whoever designed that pig with the apron and chef's hat probably didn't make much money off it, but in a perfect world, somebody'd be paying him royalties. That makes the seventh business I've seen with that pig on their signs. The others I've seen it on are 521 BBQ, Brown's BBQ Buffet, and Ella's in SC, Heavenly Hog in TN, and Jomax and Keith-A-Que in GA.

I don't know why I notice things like this. Don't ask.

Cliff, that was my one big disappointment the whole trip. There are always a few places that for a small "must go" list whenever you are in a certain area, and that was one of them.
I was happy on the drive back, however, to stop at Joel's BBQ in Flatonia, TX. It was great to talk to the guy there and find out they have now been smoking meats for 35 years. I guess all we can wish for any of these places is that they survive long enough to build up a steady business that can weather the rough spots.

Ed, we were very disappointed to find Hickory House closed. It sure had the right Roadfood look to it. Our GPS said there was a second location down in Foley. We tried calling, but kept getting "all circuits are busy", so we drove down to find it wasn't there, either.
