I'm using the wanderingjew rule here - I've made into the bar at Joe's, but never actually ate there. The person I was with was going crazy about the wait on a weekend, so we bailed out and went to The Place for Steak.

Hoped your visit there was recently, since I was curious if it was still there and good. My visit was while in town for a Clemson-Florida State football game. Considering the score of the game, the meal at Wakulla Springs Lodge was definitely the highlight.

MiamiDon has not been to Joe's Stone Crab. I remember him asking the next time in town, let him know so he can join us.

Yes I was - I had the snail salad. I didn't realize it had a Roadfood/Sterns connection.

I was there for the day about 33 years ago. We were there to give a seminar, and I had lunch there. I was really surprised to see it on your list!

I do the same. It is so much easier to just keep them all in one place. But, by doing that, no one else knows that you have added on to your list.

The Travelin Man

While I find most of the forum software upgrades to be winners, one of the things that I do miss is when threads were revived when edited for content. I don't miss the people who used to abuse the same technology - but, this thread is one, particularly, that stands out as an "I wish..."

I agree with my friend TTM on this one. I revise my lists on pages 2 and 7 when i add new places and feel a little awkward updating at the end of the thread, I like this particuliar thread because i love to see the lists of where other roadfooders have eaten.

What a tremendous list! Thanks for taking the time to share it. I did see where you put (meh) next to a few. Do you have a few standouts?

A couple of places stand out. I still think Al's Breakfast in Minneapolis is one of the finest breakfast places I've ever been. Cottage in La Jolla is also on my top-10 pancake list, as is Polly's Pancake Parlor in Sugar Hill, NH. I was raised on Pepe's Pizza in New Haven being the "One True Pizza", and it's still top-10 material for me. I nearly killed a coworker once for refusing to stop when crossing the river into PA so I could have my Tony Luke's. Toscanini's Ice Cream is also phenomenal (although I rate it second to Izzy's in St Paul, MN).

Mostly I really enjoyed the places. The "mehs" are for places that I just don't get the excitement. Geno's was attitude without substance (especially odd to see a place with all the "speak English!" signs, when I'm not really sure that ordering a "steak wit" is actually English...), and Curtis' BBQ was just plain bad (although I'm rather used to that, "New England Barbecue" is generally a phrase that makes me scared).

I actually have pictures of ~95% of these places as well, and have blogged about 1/3 of them

mr chips

Bought Hell's Kitchen peanut butter on-line. Very good stuff.

As I mentioned in my previous post, Hell's Kitchen was the source of one of my oddest recommendations ever. A friend told me "Try the peanut butter. No, really, try the peanut butter."

I usually pick up some of their peanut butter every time I'm in Minneapolis. (I also try to eat there, but they take second seat to Al's Breakfast, so I don't always make it)

These lists are very impressive. Has anyone made a master list of ALL the places that have appeared in the Roadfood books over the years? Perhaps as an Excel Spreadsheet or something. And of course my next question would be, if there is such a list is it available for sharing?

Heck, I'd even be willing to purchase such a list, to compensate for time and effort.

Just thought I'd ask.

I nominate Buffetbuster for putting together such a list!
