Wow, well it was at least two Christmases ago that I found what I seem to recall as the Jay's Cheese Wheels at the Shop n' Save in Peoria, IL. I bought two bags for me, one for my dad and gave one to a friend. I really enjoyed them, but haven't checked since to see if they still carry them, because honestly I guess I forgot about them for a while. I can see if they still have them the next time I am over that way.

I thought of these recently and wanted my husband to be able to try them, but we weren't able to find any at several stops in Bloomington and Peoria, IL. Today my husband found the Jay's Cheese Wheels at County Market in Springfield, so we'll be trying them shortly!
I hope they are as good as I remember...

I can only find them when I travel south. No where to be found in my part of Ohio. I love them. Wish I could buy them here.

I can't believe it! Cheese waffie lovers. still alive.
I was in Valpariso, Indiana last weekend and found Jay's Cheese Wheels in a bag for 99 cents. They looked just like Cheese Waffies, so I gambled and bought a bag. Boy, they sure tasted like I remembered. That is how I found this site. typed Jay's Cheese Wheels in Yahoo search.
Sooooooooo, cool. Last time I found actual Cheese Waffies was 4 years ago in Valpariso. I'm looking for a local distributor for Jay's.
Anyway ...was just excited.

Yes. I loved those bright orange "waffies". I also sorta remember a "blue cheese" variety..I think....

A few weeks ago Wise Snacks Cheese Waffies dissappeared from the snack isle of the local Jewel Food Store here in Chicago. This past weekend the shelves were aplenty with the new Jay's Cheese Wheels they are exactly the same in look and taste, and even come in a bright orange foil bag. Wonder if Jay's bought the recipe from Wise.

Update. Finally met the Wise guy...it seems he added some stops to his route, which is why his stop and my coffee stop have not been coinciding. He said the Cheez Waffies are a hit or miss deal. He gets them on occasion, but more often than not, they are not available. He said he'd keep me in mind and grab an extra box when he can, and hopefully we'll run into each other. I'll let you know when I get them, if you are still interested we'' work something out...otherwise I will just have to eat them myself.

After reading this thread, I had to look when I went for my exciting almost nightly trip to the local food store...I found them...and like them! I always thought they were Cheez Waffles (with an L) but as I read the bag, noted they are actually Waffies (with an I).

I am feeling enlightened...and a bit full after killing the whole bag at one sitting!

To the guy looking for a case...I usually see the Wise distributer when I stop for coffee in the AM...I'll ask if he can get me a whole case, and how much it would be and get back to you.

Oh, OK. I didn't realize that they were that expensive in the stores. I think the last time I bought some they were something like .69. Well, is there anyone out there willing to go buy a case of them and ship them off to me? I can use paypal or check or money order. Im just interested in getting some and I can't find them around here.

The local Giant market has them. They are made by Wise and are $2.00 a bag. Not much in each bag but I like them so it is worth it to me. You either like them or not. Something about that fake cheese! I guess it brings back the memories of being a kid.

Thanks, but I was hoping to get them at a more reasonable cost. there is a specialty foods website that has them for that price already.

Hi!

I'm interested in purchasing some of these cheese waffies but when I go to www.wisefoods.com I get a whole bunch of debug errors in IE6.0. Is there a store that would be willing to ship them to me for less than 3.00 a bag? I could buy a dozen of them at a time if that's what it takes. Anybody willing to help a guy out in Texas. They're not available here.

Cheez Waffles. I buy a bag (at least) whenever I'm in the Philadelphia area. Used to be one of my Dad's favorite snacks. I seem to remember, as a kid, that they used to be sold packaged in a tube, not unlike the pringles of today. Or am I remembering things that just aren't so.... Not exactly cheese but once you've had 'em you'll be hooked. JAMESB

Cheez Waffies are one of my guilty pleasures. That salty, grainy fake cheese! Those fried waffle bits! Mmm. Most people I know think they're disgusting, but not me.
