I live in western Illinois, and I do a lot of traveling. Are there any recurring wild-game dinners (annual or otherwise) in the Great Lakes area...or elsewhere? I haven't managed to get to one of these in about 18 years...and a couple weeks ago I found out about one here in town that had happened the PRIOR day. At that time one of the meats was raccoon & that was some of the best meat I've "et".

There's an annual one in Bradford VT on the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year. My wife's family has been going for about 20 years now, and in fact an entire weekend's trip has developed around it, with several other Roadfoody stops.

Ah, you just missed an annual racoon dinner in Danville, Ohio. Baked raccoon, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and a few vegetables.
