should I be out there?

Its pretty warm here in nepa for this time of season, In the 40's anyway. I have a spot I want to start going to in march but all these nice days out I feel like maybe I should be out there now. The problem is I don't want to go out there for a week then the weather turns on me and I have to wait a month before I go back out. I think it will look bad if I'm there then I'm not. Also It cost me about twenty bucks just to open up and I don't want to loose money right now. sure is nice out tho. o'boy, what to do what to do?

Some years ago I went to an event and spent $1700.00 for entry fee and food. Made $800.00. Lost $900.00. To this day I still go back to that event, I saw the potential, didn`t give up. Its now one of my best yearly events. Three day event, make over 5K. So twenty dollars is a drop in the bucket for me. Step up to the plate and get slinging.

Think of it as a "soft opening". It will give you practice. You may end up changing a few things after working a day or two. The "down time" will give you the opportunity to make the changes you may need. Tell your customers that you will be there when the weather warms up in March. Give them something to look forward to. Plus you will get some valuable Word-of-Mouth advertizing going. Pass out a few loyalty cards while your at it.

Put up a sign that says "Mild winter = Bonus Days! If the weather turns, catch me in the spring!"

$20 is pretty cheap advertising. People aren't going stop the first time they see you. You have to build up their awareness of you. They need to anticipate seeing you in that spot so when they're thinking of food they think of you. Of course, if you're losing money by not working somewhere else you have to decide for yourself whether it's cost effective.

So what did you do???? I'm thinking you should go out regularly on your days off. Put a sign up and tell people just when you will be there. Now is a good time to start to get a feeling about your choice of location(s) in case it sucks. Gotta decide if you're in this or not.

I'm going to get out there! Thanks for the advice guys. Now i'm stuck between locations, one spot has alot of foot traffic, in a biz district. The other is right next to a home depot with an easy pull over, and I can build for winter. May be hard to get a read on how they'll do because its winter. I'll probably try both
