spaghetti sauce

I live in Knoxville, TN and there is a restuarant on Broadway that has spaghetti sauce that is so good. I cannot duplicate it. It is not a strong tomato sauce and it is slightly salty. Louis's is great and I wish I couldduplicate it. I wrote the Knoxville News Sentinel requesting the recipe. They responded that no one has it and every one has requested it. Too bad because I will still go there and pay $9.00 and enjoy. I only wish I could do it at home

There is a place on Western Ave about a mile west of the interstate on the right. Real good brisket if you get it hot.

Where did Sarge go. He also was on Western Ave

Don't about Sarge but a new place called Smokeys at the corner of Middlebrook and Liberty looks promising

I'll check smokeys out today. Sarge started on Kingston Pike where Buddys is now. He then moved to Texas Ave and sold out of his house, then moved to Western ave. It ain't there now, but he was in business for 30 years

Sundancer: I am unstoppable when I really want a restaurant's recipe, especially when they are so tight-lipped about it. Cozy up to the busboys...they are in and out of the kitchen and don't have so much to lose. I once traded my phone number for an amazing bread pudding recipe. This is drastic, and kind of unethical, but I did once call a restaurant (that had been really rude to me when I asked about the mystery ingredient) and claimed to be having an allergic reaction. ME: "What was in that sauce? Was there any garlic, because I will have to go to the hospital..." Waitress: "Oh, dear! Maybe it could be the Teriyaki sauce?!"

EliseT: I believe you would be good at culinary espionage. I would really like to have the recipe for Louis's On Broadway's spaghettis sauce. I wrote my newspaper and they replied that they had numerous request for the same and had been unable to obtain.

I can't find a local Italian run restaurant with sauce that doesn't seem runny. My husband makes the best red sauce I've ever tasted however. Plenty of sausage, onions, garlic, green peppers, tomatoes and olives. YUM!

If I ever get to Tennessee, I'll be on the case! But really, make friends with the busboys! It works!
