the bell tolls for me,taco bell

Okay so here is the way it is ...sometime you  just gotta ring the bell, and if you are going to ring the bell , better to be at one of the original tiny mission style ones than one of new fru fru ones where from the decor  you might expect to be getting something really resembling mexican ( or something really resembling food for that matter) that being said this little Mission de Bell on Freeport in Sactown is one of the friendliest places around, great staff , esp the warm middle aged female manager who makes you feel like you've walked into someplace far better or maybe even a home - too bad they do not let her cook from her own recipes as she would surely do better than the YUM brand philosophy , which is as everyone knows to have about 15 ingredients , then shake them up a bit and call them different things.
When I wanna ring the bell , what I usually get is the chicken gordita- must admit I do actually like those things , but when I stray  away from gorditaland , I get in trouble. Today had one of their` fully loaded' salads- it being a hot day ,I thought a nice cool salad would be tasty but when I tasted mine it was warm!!!.
Why was it warm you asked incredulously, because , because they put friggin rice in the salad!!  Hot rice in a salad!!! Then at the bottom of the fake taco shell bowl thing they give you, they had smeared some friggin refried beans...did not think too much of what `fully loaded' might mean at the bell , but should have known they would just throw a whole crapload of their fake food together and mix it up which is pretty much what the entire menu is...except  for the chicken gorditas- they are Gods food, and I am still hoping they someday bring back the taco meat on a bun thing...because sometime you just gotta ring the bell!

Get the $.89 chicken burrito and a $.99 order of pintos and cheese. Dump the beans on the opened tortilla, add 3 packs of Hot sauce and 5 packs of Fire sauce refold and enjoy a $1.99 meal (including 6% KY sales tax) on the cheap.

BTW not much sauce in those little packets. I know 8 total sounds like a lot, but it's not.

    Good stuff!

Please, Please - bring back the Bell Burger, I think Taco Bell looked too far beyond the bun and offer an assortment of slop, they finally brought back the tostado but the tostado supreme you have to ask/pay for the individual ingredients to make it a supreme - I've also noticed they've started folding the bean burritos a different way (reminds me of a babies diaper) I always ask them to fold it the old way.

Bell Burgers were the best item they ever had.

I ate mine in the 70's,

I wonder what would happen if you walked in with a hamburger bun and asked them to ring up enough items so they could make up a BellBeefer for you. If that wouldn't work, you could always buy tacos, etc. and strip them for parts to make your own BellBeefer.

Here's the answer to your taco burger prayers:

    http://www.losanjealous.c...me-of-the-taco-burger/

Maybe this should go under "mexican", since Henry's is not a chain.
BTW, the last name of the guy who started TB? Bell!
Shakey's was started by a veteran with neurological injuries from a WWII plane crash.

Anyone jonesing for a taco burger can satisfy that urge at any of the 36 Baker's locations in the Inland Empire of Southern Cal. Many are conveniently located off I-10 for those of you passing through this area. They use real cheddar, by the way.

When I livec in SoCal, I avoided the bell. Lots of better food in those little shacks named Alberto's, Alnerlito's, etc. run by the Molcasalsa folks.

The 70's era TB was decent food. Not really mexican but still decent. They actually cooked the meat and beans in each restaurant.

    Long live the BellBeefer!
