Ordering a trailer, cart, or Tuk Tuk from Asia? Thu, 01/23/14 11:37 PM (permalink)
I have been intrigued about some of the links I find on alibaba.com for the carts, trailers, tuk tuks, etc built usually in China (Taiwan). Do any of you vendors have any experience with these products? If so, how did the ordering process work? What about the quality of construction?

Please be more specific. It was a serious question. Have you found the quality to be lacking? Was the ordering process difficult. Were you ripped off?

      Thanks!

The biggest problem is making sure the equipment meets your local Health Dept. regulations.
If you buy anything, be prepared to spend more money adapting it to local regulations.
All the fittings will probably be metric as well.

If you follow posts on here about problems with domestic carts, there are dozens of stories about problems getting warranty claims fixed, finding replacement parts, etc. If you buy something made in Asia, you will be on your own. I would stick with a reputable builder from here in the states. It's still a crapshoot, but at least your odds are better.

I agree completely.  Do not expect to get a cart that complies with basic NSF practices let alone your local health code.  Also, when trying to locate a replacement for some custom made part that only exists for your cart/manufacturer can be a night mare. they probably are not going the sell the part/s directly to you and you will not find it anywhere else.
