Uncle Ray's Potato Chips

Has anyone tried these?

Not long ago I discovered a potato chip brand called Uncle Ray's. I have seen Uncle Ray's chips at Walgreen's pharmacies, as well as at Arcanum Pizza Cream, a local pizza joint in Arcanum (south of Greenville off of OH 49). Where I live 69 cents will get you a 3-ounce bag. They come in plain, groovy, nacho cheese, nachos with ranch dressing, and hot (think of Cheeto's with hot pepper), just to name five flavors. They do similar to what In 'N Out does in putting excerpts from the Bible on the backs of the bags.

You can find more info on this company at http://www.unclerays.com. They're based out of Detroit, so I guess the Michigan (and possibly Toledo--are there any?) contingent on this board is more familiar with it than I am.

We have Uncle Ray's chips here in the magical land of Eastern Kentucky....They come in TON'S of assorted flavors, and are mostly sold at the discount stores like: Family Dollar, The Dollar Store, Sav-A-Lot, and Big Lots. They are very good and at a great price!....Tom B. In cold, foggy, just ran a possum off my front porch(seriously!) Eastern Kentucky.

I'm from West Michigan and you see Uncle Rays all over the place. And yes they are tasty! But I may be prejudiced since I'm a firm supporter of Michigan Made Products! (Economy in this state is bad enough, least one can do is support it's local manufacturers)...

I have never seen an Uncle Ray's Potato Chip Truck. How do they get them to the stores? Maybe by carrier pigion babies I never see them either.

I'm from a suburb of Toledo and yes, Toledo does have Uncle Ray's. I used to eat the Dill Pickle flavor all the time.

Have even seen a few Uncle Ray's here in the Pacific Northwest.

Uncle Ray's is here in Kansas too. We used to get it delivered to our store from our grocery distributor.

Lay's, Jay's, Ray's.

How funny.
Of the three, only have the national Lays in NY. Ran across Jay's when I visited Chicago. Never heard of this other one.

If anyone in NJ wants to try Jay's or Ray's, the Big Lots on Rt 22 in Springfield usually has one or both brands in stock, at Big Lots prices (about 1/2 of retail). I like 'em both, but I don't see where they are a chip I'd drive 100 miles for. --Ken

I just found UNCLE RAY'S chips here in ORLANDO FL. for the first time today. I tried the HOT flavor. VERY GOOD!

I love Uncle Ray's. I just LOVE the dill pickle flavor. Pringles dill tastes like salt n viniger with dill, and Lay's tastes like ranch with dill, but U.R.'s taste wonderfull and very "dilly". I can't find them locally here but a discount store about 40 miles from here has them and I try to stop in at least once a month. I don't know what the store is called now but it is in Ford City, PA

My girlfriend LOVES their dill pickle flavor, too. I like them and I used to like the Cabana brand as well.

We sell Uncle Rays chips at the Menards store where I work in the U.P. of Michigan.......very tasty.....and cheap in price!!!

I think that Uncle Ray puts out a very tasty and economically priced bag 'o chips. I will confess that I do not care for the prostlytizing on the back of the package so I will choose Herr's if I want unusual flavored chip and I have a choice.
You can believe what you want, but don't force it on folks who do not share your religious doctrine.

On the other hand, I like to brag that my mechanic has a crucifix over his toolbox. I figure in anything automotive, I appreciate some divine intervention. He does the job right the first time...

I just stumbled onto Uncle Ray's chips in small town Oklahoma. I've been on a Vinegar & Salt chip bender and my addiction lured me into a grimy convenience store that offered only unheard-of brands. I hesitated, not wanting to blow 89 cents on junk, but I needed that vinegar & salt fix. Heaven! Went back the next day for 4 different flavor's of Uncle Ray's. Love the texture, flavors, and "chapters." Goodbye, Lay's. I found Uncle Ray's!

When I ran a convenience store, I bought these chips from our grocery broker. These are store-brand chips for stores too small to have their own label. These are very good chips! If the stories on the package offend you, don't read the back of the bag. My favorite flavor was  the Coney chips ( mustard and onion ).

I'm in Ontario and we've had Uncle Ray's here for several years now.
IMO the only thing that separates run of the mill discount chips from Uncle Ray's is the packaging. Ray's pretzel twists, however, are a different story. One of the best pretzels I've ever had, crispy, buttery, never stale.
Sadly, I haven't seen these pretzels in over a year.
BTW the hot/piquante chips are excellent to prank people with if you let them think it's just bbq flavour.

Uncle Ray's are dumped into southern Ontario as well, and I'm glad they are! They're good chips for the price. And my Canada includes Detroit, and Buffalo too!

I've been eating Uncle Ray's chips for years now. Good chips, good price, like the website though it is never updated, Have received no replies from my emails I have sent them. No big deal, as long as they keep turning the chips out...
