You guys are killing me. What memories! I grew up Charlottesville, VA. One of my best friends was Rhonda. Her dad owned (still owns? idk) that Spudnut Shop. It's incredible to see a picture of their shop. Those spudnuts were the best! Of course, it didn't hurt that I had a crush on the owner's daughter. quote:Originally posted by DaveM Spudnut shop in Charlottesville,VA:

I started a Spudnut Shop in Miami, OK in 1965 approx. It was a Franchise out of Salt Lake City, UT. I purchased the equipment in Amarila TX. I had a trainer come from the home office. He work with me about two weeks before we had our Grand Opening. It was next door two a new QuickTrip Store. We made all the products including the cake Spuddies also made a fried pie. It was a wonderful product, I was not aware that the Franchise no longer exists. Where do the shop buy there mix ? It was always more costly than the Daylight shops that were Franchised out of Tulsa, OK and the flour was made in Tulsa. I have some pictures of my shop if I new where send them. My business card look like a Spudnut. Thanks

Spudnuts! Now that a blast from the past. When I was a kid growing up in Midland, Texas in the 50's there was a Spudnut Shop and the owner went to our church and would bring Spudnuts to Sunday School. I went to many a sermon with a chocolate mustache. They also had a delivery wagon, kind of like the ice cream man used to do, where they would drive down your street slowly ringing a bell and everyone would run out to the street to buy a Spudnut. I remember them as being delicious.

I remember the Spudnut Shop in Johnstown. It was on Broad Street in Cambria City, rt 403..the people that owned it went to my church...OMG they were soooo good. I do not care for reg donuts, but Spudnuts now thats different. I think someone should set a booth up for them at the Folk Fest here each year. There is no place close here now that I know of that makes them, even if there was I doubt they would be the same. Nice to hear from someone that remembers how great they were.

A spudnut shop was two blocks from my high school in st. louis mo. in 1953. They were and still are, the lightest, most delish donuts ever made. They were three times the size of a crispy cream and you could almost get a whole one in your mouth at once. Many days I skiped lunch and went to the Spudnut shop and blew my money on the large delish punctured orbs called Spudnuts. They were never greasy, allways light and sweet and if you could catch them hot out of the fryer, you were the closest you could get on earth to heaven. i live in Bastrop Texas and would like to know if there are any shops close to Austin. There goes my diet.

Is there anything going on in the Spudnut Shops? Who has the franchise? If it is out of business it should be for sale. Years ago there was a shop in Sapulpa, OK and also in Tulsa, OK. Can you buy mix from anyone? I need to down load my old shops pictures. Thankyou, Wm L. Dunbar 918-688-5408 username Ralph

I was a Spudnut salesman in El Paso back in the late 60's/early 70's. Ate all the profits every Saturday. LOVED them. Next time I'm in LA I'm gonna find one of their many stores that are left. Thanks to all!
