Bill B. I found this NYT story rather fascinating: [link=http://www.nytimes.com/20...eat.html?th&emc=th</a>]http://www.nytimes.com/20...h&emc=th</a> From MikeS. This is a detailed report about just how unsafe hamburger meat can be. It also makes me really mad at the politicians that run the U.S.D.A. Our safety IS NOT their first concern. It also tells me I'll only buy my hamburger from Costco in the future. Huh? That link yields only the following: Page Not Found We're sorry, the page you've requested does not exist at this address

I believe if you do a Roadfood.com search you will find this article was discussed here when it was originally published last October.

Davydd I believe if you do a Roadfood.com search you will find this article was discussed here when it was originally published last October. Davydd, if you look at the first message, it was posted in October. The weird thing is, Bill B. seems to be quoting MikeS. from another thread.

Doing a search on NYT archives, I think this is the article referenced above. ... http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/31/us/31meat.html?pagewanted=1&sq=hamburger%20meat%20u%20s%20d%20a&st=nyt&scp=1 Articles about the 'pink slime' from Beef Products were interesting too. .... No wounder hamburger meat from grocery stores do not taste right or good. ... I'll go back to grinding my own meat. I just ground a chuck roast couple a days ago, and the chopped steak that I cook did not disappoint me. It was far better than any extra lean or ground chuck or round from the store.
