That amazing colossal burger looks great, but I'd have to have multiple stomachs like a cow in order to handle it.

Bob, you're not thinking outside the box. From the looks of it. you'd have to grab the skewers, flip it & eat it like corn on the cob. Me, I am ready for deep fried bacon & a dippin dog & some of their AMAZING fries.

Now it all makes sense. I had to scour through 3 albums to find that pic, then remember tinyurl's website address. Which turned out to be tinypic.com and the pic is still huge.

Turns out it's quite a week for this little hot dog stand. We were named one of Four mind-blowing meals to close out 2009 by Time Out Chicago Magazine. Schwa, Spoon Thai and Nightwood were the other 3. I think we're in very good company. Not to familure with Nightwood but I'm a very big fan of Chef Carlson over at Schwa.

That video was really scary. I confess I just don't understand professional competition food consumption. I like to enjoy the food I eat & wolfing down anything ~~ especially a 3 lb. burger ~~ in less than 2 minutes seems like such a waste. Of the food & even the 2 minutes. And, Man! He HAD to have been sick later. Seems like good burgers ~~ like Gus' ~~ or ANY dishes ~~ deserve better than that!

Here is a video of our International Video Debut. We were filmed along with Hot Doug's for Voice of America. Its in Mandarin so if anyone can translate. Here is also a video of prolly my favorite video review. It was for a small local television station but was done in a way I never seen before. Plus, it's kinda funny. WaSC on Off the Eatin Path

Foodbme How many plugs does a guy get in one thread before the Self- Promotion Police step in? Gus is a good guy in the one time that I met him. He didn't start this thread, and he has fully disclosed that he owns WSAC. What's the problem?

Foodbme How many plugs does a guy get in one thread before the Self- Promotion Police step in? I read this when it first was posted and it baffled me. Not because, as saps pointed out, I didn't start this thread. Not because I was called out for posting a news item about my restaurant (by fox news no less, they have the word news in their title) in the roadfood news section. But because people that are on this forum normally would support the independent restaurant, would root for the little guy when a Five Guys would move in next to them, would make an extra effort to seek out places that aren't known to the rest of the population because they are off the beaten path. I work hard to come up with some of the things that we serve, Im here 7 days a week, its not easy and when that hard work pays off in a news article or a television segment and i want to share that, I get shot down??? really. I have been on this board since 2003 (restaurant started in 2005 so I didn't join to promote my restaurant). I'd think members would be happy that "one of their own" is getting some mentions in the mainstream media. Especially since there are no less then 7 threads in this section about restaurant that have closed. I bet a little self promotion on their part wouldn't of hurt. Now Foodbme, Im curious about something. If I own a BBQ restaurant instead of a hot dog stand and lets say I go to the BBQ forum and lets say I start 9 individual thread about specials that i'm running, new items im working on or just random food pics that my restaurant serves. Keep in mind that you got bent out of shape over this 1 thread (which I didn't start) and only posted 7 times on. Would you consider the 9 threads (just on the first page mind you) to be self promoting? And would you complain about that? So again...you complain about my 1 thread which I didn't start but say nothing about the 9 bbq threads. What gives???? sorry for the mini rant

Gus, you've done a fine job of building a successful business that has been recognized, not only by your growing customer base, but also by the press. Keep up the great work. Mark

I enjoy reading most of the posts here by people who operate Roadfood establishments. It gives me an insight into how much hard work goes into creating those tasty delights for not a whole lot of money. What sets these posts off from the posts that get deleted right away by the Self-Promotion Police is that they contain quality editorial content. They are interesting to read and attempt to inform. For an example, see this post by CSD: http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/fb.ashx?m=559046 I note there is a new section in the Miscellaneous Forum called Roadfood Restaurants in the Media to discuss press coverage of Roadfood establihments. About the BBQ thread, how obvious is the name of the establishment in those posts?

The Chicago Tribune Dining Guide named WASC country fried bacon as one of it's "Must-Try Dishes." Congratulations Gus! I hereby knight you as the "Fry Master" and nominate you to be the next president of the DFAB, Deep Fried Advisory Board."

We were featured on a show called Chicago's Best. They featured the Nick D Burger , which is our stuffed, battered and fried burger. They also featured our take on the Texas Bean Burger along with our Fried Bacon. Fried Gyro and Fried Chili. Yes, it was a show about fried foods. Episode can be viewed here: WaSC on Chicago's Best TV
