We have a local "gourmet ham" company (Harrington Hams) up here.
I love to make soup, bean or split pea with the hocks off their hams. The hocks are sold frozen and are cheep.

I'm  very fun of Chinese Recipes, so I suggest the Chinese sweetcorn and prawn soup recipe. It's a good meal, delicious and nutritious. I've made this soup whenever I have a sweetcorn leftover on fridge. It's tasty and good for snowy day(s)!

I seem to remember one year long ago on a trip from Long Beach down to San Diego on a non-typical southern California day when it was windy cold and rainy. We stopped in Carlsbad and had a wonderful bowl of split pea soup at Pea Soup Anderson's. Split pea soup and clam chowder have always been my go to soups when it's nast out. Probably comes from being stationed in Groton for six years.

I join with those who love pea soup or bean soup.  Either is perfect - snowy day or otherwise.  One kind of the day it snows and one for the next day, so I can look at the unshoveled snow.l

What I wonder is why good split pea or bean is so hard to find in the supermarket.  Just Campell's condensed.  All sorts of "Italian Wedding" but no pea or bean.  What's wrong with this picture.
