And I thought you were talking about a former NY congressman.

Felony Franks is old news round here. Members of The Contingent spotted the place a couple years ago, passing by on one of our group tours of Chicago. The place hadn't opened yet, so we didn't stop in. Haven't been back in that neighborhood since. The only real news about the place is the fact that they finally won their battle with the alderman to put up a sign. Apparently this knucklehead thinks the name and prison theme glorifies criminals and a life of crime in general. The owner is doing the community a service; operating a business on a fairly desolate corner of a rundown neighborhood, and providing work for guys (and women too, I suppose) just out of prison who couldn't get work elsewhere. So naturally the upstanding alderman wants to put a damper on things. I've got high hopes Rahm can turn this city around, but I know it's not gonna be an overnight change. Buddy

Buddy In Chicago, "Upstanding Alderman" is an oxymoron isn't it??

I think it is a fantstic idea, as I am sure it is hard to get a job after having been in prison. After all, isnt prison supposed to be both a punishment AND a segue back into society? I hope they make it, as, after all, its the food, not the name or who serves it.
