This is strange...when logged IN I  **can't**  see me most recent posts (and ended up multi-posting a picture)

But when logged OUT I  **can**  see the most recent posts I made...

very strange...

CFS at Be Bops and a hot dog...the hot dog was uneventful but the CFS is superb

                      To digress to Truckee:

                      CFS at Jax

                      and wait staff:

Jax is a busy place, and larger than it looks on the outside. It's south of the river, across the bridge, from the touristo oriented downtown Donner Pass Rd. Go across the bridge on CA Hwy 267, turn right on W River St. It's on the corner...

Large portions of food, friendly (and pretty) wait staff, very reasonable wait times for food to be served...

I always try to stop in for lunch when in the area...

PS...some tv cook with spikey blond hair, goatee, tattoos, and bling featured it on his DDD show...

I may try and hit Jax Truckee Diner while I'm in the Reno/Tahoe area in a few weeks. Their menu looks great and the burger with tobacco onions and applewood bacon sounds yummy. Be Bop and Hamburger Ranch will have to wait until I drive up to Oregon later this year. Come on over and meet me at Jax in a few weeks, BackRhodes!

I looked at their menu last week. Might be interesting for the "sloppy Joe" the night I get into Reno.

MIXED review: The Hwy 101 Bar & Grill, North State St, Redwood Valley, a few miles north of Ukiah along Hwy 101...

This is the second time I was there...both times I had the Tri-Tip Dip...

The Au Jus, which is made in house, is absolutely the BEST...

Ignore the Pepsi glasses for my Coke...

A detail oriented person would've wiped the rim of the AuJus ramekin...

The fries were horrible...cardboard flavored styrofoam...

I'd go back again for another Tri-Tip Dip, sans fries...

Too bad they don't do milkshakes...I was told it takes too long if the house is full of diners...which means they're understaffed.

The front of house is run by 1 woman, no matter how busy I guess.  The cook owns the place.

So it seems everyone is taking individual trips. But this thread won't die! I have to get shoulder surgery next week, but maybe late summer we could actually do this.

                                      Elise,
I'll be taking a road trip to Burbank in a few Saturdays. Need a good takeout lunch to bring to a friend in the area. Any suggestions?

Elise...most of my trip are regional, so I end up driving only segments of my favorite highways...but I still think of doing these highways, end to end:  US-101, US-395, CA-49, CA-20

There's a bbq place in Ft Bragg at the western end of CA-20, and the CA-20 dogleg to Ukiah puts us within range of The Broiler Steakhouse, but further east Hwy 20 in Lake County seems mostly fast food (Ice cream & milkshakes at Fosters in Lucerne is always good)...Colusa, Yuba City, & Nevada City are places I drive through but don't know much about food wise...

BackRhodes, I've done CA 49 twice. What a fun, interesting drive. Columbia and Jamestown were awesome!

If you a make it to Encinitas, CA (just north of San Diego and South of Camp Pendleton), make sure to stop by the 101 Diner (552 S Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, CA 92024) and try the eggs benedict. The Hollandais sauce is ho-made and the February special may just be crab cake bennies - NOT TO BE MISSED. The potatoes are great, the coffee is great (and local), the counter seats are the best, and there are a great many other delicious finds on the menu: like stuffed french toast, baked apple waffles, and fluffy pancakes. I hope you get to enjoy it, but respect the locals :)

I checked out their menu and have driven by it several times. I just may take a lunch drive down there one day. But what do you mean, "respect the locals"?
