No thanks. I don't enjoy cakes and pies, etc. But I must compliment you on hiring a new waitress who can shoot good photos.

I make a gooey butter cake once in awhile but do not use Paula Deen's recipe. Her recipe calls for far too much butter.

OK Tom. You've rung the bell with the correct spelling of caramel. I get so tired of seeing it spelled (and hearing it pronounced) carmel. While I wouldn't eat it -- hey, it's probably sweet -- I appreciate the artistry.

Tom, our family really does not care for cake but this might be just the thing for me to make for my granddaughter's 14th birthday. I am going to make one in next few days and test it on the family and if they like it, it will be her birthday cake on the 25th. She does like Smith Island cake but I am not a fan, so we shall see. Thank you for the post.

Love the caramel painting. I wondered what kind of chocolate you were using.

Chewie: It looks real good to me and very appetizing. Presentation is what sells along with great taste. In my opinion a super job. Quite a hike from Knoxville to Maryland but I believe it would be worth it. Perhaps late spring. Paul E. Smith Knoxville, TN
