Littleneck Clams...

Just happened to see some fresh ones in the shell at a local market today. Bought a 5 lb. bag (about 30 bucks), took them home and cooked them three at a time in the microwave. Four minutes does the job. Steamed perfectly and ready for some lemon butter. I ate a total of 33 clams as fast as I could nuke them. What a treat....

What is the name of said local market? If it carries consistently fresh seafood I'd like to know about it, please! Brad

Yeah, I was really impressed with the selection and the prices. I also got a couple of pounds of fresh Atlantic cod which was superb. There is a place called the Seafood Center out on Whitney and Odana which is pretty good, but they are very pricey. They also never have Atlantic cod...just the Pacific which I think is nowhere near as good.

Thanks! I know what you mean about the Seafood Center being expensive...I've been there a couple of times but only for special occasions. The Hy-Vee stores I've visited in Des Moines have always impressed me as being well-run outfits with good selection and quality, so it sounds like this one continues the trend.
