Weirdest topping for chili?

Hi all! I am new to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Alison and I live in Seattle. I was wondering what some of the weird things people put on chili might be. I always put ranch dressing on top, yum. Alison

Welcome to Roadfood itschilitime. Just about the only things I've ever put on chili are chopped onions and grated hard Monterrey jack.

itschilitime, Welcome to Roadfood and a big hello from the other side of the mountain. I always had a lot of Chili and Rice in Hawaii. I know in some places they make a Chili Spaghetti. I'll take mine with chopped Walla Walla sweets, some shredded cheddar and hot out of the oven corn bread....take care................pnwc

Some people who don't know any better spoon some pinto beans into their chili. I've also seen Jalapenos & sour cream on chili as well as crumbled saltines or oyster crackers.

Weirdest I know of is Dixie Chili topping a 5-way with fresh chopped garlic and calling it a six way Another local joint (cant recall which one right now) makes their "sixth" topping jalapeno bottlecaps, but I dont think thats quite as odd Nothing really REALLY odd like lutefisk or roofing nails comes to mind

I gladly trade some Cheez Doodles for a few black olives.

The jalapenos at Mike' Chili Parlor are memorable. He gets all cranky when you compare his pasta/Chili/beans/onions/cheese/etc. to Cincinnati ... Meanwhile, a lot depends on the chili itself ... always chopped onions ... maybe sour cream ... when in doubt ... more chili.

I like to put burnt ends on top, not cooked in, I put brisket, bottom round and 81-19 grind in for the meat, I save the burnt ends for serving...this is for me, not served to customers, unless requested, which no one has.

Sauerkraut. Like a chili dog with kraut, but without the dog and bun. I'll rinse the sauerkraut so it's not too salty though. Nice tart, crispy bite that goes well with chili, IMHO.

TJ Jackson Another local joint (cant recall which one right now) makes their "sixth" topping jalapeno bottlecaps, but I dont think thats quite as odd That would be Blue Ash Chili TJ. I guess the weirdest things would be creamy coleslaw and or mustard. Both in the case of the "Works" or "All the way" in Va, WVa and NC. I think Ranch Dressing pairs very well with chilies. It's why you see hot wings served with it. DT
