New England seafood restaurant style ONION RINGS

Nearly every decent seafood restaurant in New England sells onion rings, and they're almost all great. But I've found wherever else I go, I rarely come across anything that's not a heavy beer batter or a dark browned italian crust. Why doesn't anyone sell the thin flakey NE style ones? 
 
Currently searching for places with thin flakey rings in NYC or SF.

When he described the onion rings, the first place that came to mind was Teds.
We have one here in Tempe AZ.

You get a great hot dog at Ted's as well as a Loganberry drink! Do they offer the Loganberry drink in AZ?
 
I would kill to shovel some snow these days.
 
In NYC you can get great onion rings (you can skip the burger) at NY Burger Co.

Good to know, CC!  I've been there and wasn't impressed with the burger and didn't have the O-rings.  based on this picture...must try soon!!
 

The onion rings are really outstanding.

The 303 Park Ave. location is only a mile from HC BBQ at 30 West 26th. It would piecemeal a nice wings and rings picnic on a Wednesday. Activate Nike Running app!

If I ate, then ran and ate again, I might suffer from what they call in the competitive eating game a "Reversal of Fortune"!
I did run 4 miles to Peter Luger's for a bacon cheeseburger and it was so totally worth it!!

I don't think they have the Loganberry but never looked for it either. I'll look for it next time in.
All the other products are imported from upstate NY. Sahlens, white hots, mustard, hot sauce, polish & italians, etc

The starting line is the finish line. You have one hour.

Judges will score on tasting...variety and quality of items gathered and how they keep (no crying...just applies for me). Distance logged and resting heart rate will be calculated.. Bonus points for creative utensils and additional picnic accoutrement.

Onion rings with "a dark browned italian crust."  I don't think I've ever encountered that.  It must be a regional specialty.
