Any idea about whats behind the resurgence in the Delaware Valley area. I have always loved them and welcome their return. Just saw a billboard. how did this all come to pass?

Unfortunately, they still seem to be no longer delicious (and how many people have any idea what I'm talking about?). Bart

The fact that they are no longer delicious has nothing to do with a change in flavor. Bart

I think that the corn syrup notion has some merit. That said, I have welcomed their return, and this post is coming from a stay in Hershey, PA

Goldenberg's peanut chews were my (late) moms favorite candy when I was growing up in NYC during the 40's and 50's.

The word 'delicious' used to be printed on the package. Not anymore.

eruby The word 'delicious' used to be printed on the package. Not anymore. We have a winner. And, while I can find some old text ads referring to the product as "Goldenberg's Delicious Peanut Chews", I can't seem to find a photo with the word "delicious" on the logo anywhere. Edit: My wife points out that I should have used an exclamation point after the word, "Delicious!". Bart

If you Google "Goldenbergs Peanut Chews" and click on images, there's pictures of the various wrappers going way back. I did not see the word "delicious" anywhere. "Original" yes but, no "Delicious".

I got turned onto these by a great columnist for the Lexington {KY} Herald Leader named DG Fizmaurice. He wrote an homage to these in the daily when I was a kid and I begged my mom to drive me to Lexington so I could buy some. My parents never needed an excuse to travel to eat so we loaded up the Country Squire and headed north from Corbin. York Steakhouse in the Fayette mall would sell you a cheap, delicious steak for 3-4 dollars back then so we feasted then started hitting the Begley Drug Stores in the area til we found a box filled with Goldenberg Peanut Chews. Absolutely delicious. Glad to hear they're back in business.
