JL's Barbeque--Macon, GA

Does anyone know if JL's Barbeque in Macon (off I-475) is still serving its traditional sliced barbeque beef?
 
I ask because this is the beef (sliced eye of round) that Sonny's recently abandoned in favor of their current (inferior) sliced beef brisket but I'm hoping JL's has continued with the eye of round sliced beef.
 
Can anyone confirm that?
 
Background:  JL's location here used to be a Sonny's years ago and it was like when Sonny's left, JL's duplicated Sonny's menu--a good thing to me. So, I'm hoping JL's still offers the sliced beef that Sonny's has abandoned.

It wasn't dry the way Sonny's smoked it. It had the best smoke ring I've ever had the pleasure to observe. 
 
The brisket is just not as flavorful and is a little too fatty, at least as it is presented at Sonny's.
 
I always ask the waitress about the change and if I'm the only customer who has inquired and they always say "oh, yeah we , get asked that all the time".
 
But, obviously, Corporate decided to go for lower cost than maintaining quality. Sort of like Arby's abandoning real roast beef in the '70s in favor of today's roast beef "product".
 

Eye of the round sliced very thin and cooked quickly on a flattop makes for great steak sandwiches, but I can't imagine it being in the same class with marvelously tender and delicious smoked brisket.

As far as Sonny's is concerned around here the exact opposite has happened. They stopped serving sliced brisket and started serving sliced beef of some kind, maybe it is round, not sure but don't like it nearly as much as the sliced brisket. They still do have the chopped brisket though.

Hmm, that's interesting.  We're going to be in the Tallahassee area next week--our old  stomping grounds---and will check out my old Sonny's location to see if they've got the sliced eye of round beef. 
 

I have only ordered the Pork Sandwich at JL's I don't believe
they do brisket.
It's been a couple of years since I had their smoked prime rib
It was good!
Did not know they were in Athens.

We used to like Jim & Milts in Tally. I don't think they
are what they were, but they had a pretty decent sliced
beef (not brisket).

Don't misunderstand--there is no JLs in Athens; only Macon. Sadly.
