Mar I appreciate your passion for Tito's Tacos but based on the photos and your description, I don't understand the uniqueness, similarly, the appear to be a dime a dozen here in Rhode Island and especially in Boston.

WJ... It's the taste. It's unique and not found elsewhere. It's fresh and it's fast. It's not all of the offerings but the taco and the all meat burrito are the items that are craved by many. The other offerings round out the menu. They make the worst rice ever but it's a great vehicle for that salsa. The salsa is a very mild tomato concoction that marries perfectly with whatever that meat is inside of the taco shell. Some people state... They could drink that salsa. For those that like a little zing in each bite, the green salsa is available. It's the first stop on the way home when picking anyone up from the airport that lived here. For some reason, those that love Tito's, crave it. It's what anyone and almost everyone who moved away from this area laments about missing most. This is Southern California where you can find taco shops everywhere. None compare to Tito's. They're different. Of course there are the naysayers and thank goodness for them because with them the lines are shorter. I need to go there and write that review! I think everything that needs to be said is in this thread.

Mar, There's a place right down the street from me called Tio Mateo's which has several varities of homemade salsa's, honestly it just doesn't look any different from what I can get there, although there are quite a few mexican/taco joints here in Providence, there are many (good ones) in Boston. Although I'm sure Tito's is good, I still am still a skeptic about it's uniqueness.

Tacos themselves are not unique. You can find them anywhere. Tito's Tacos is unique in Los Angeles, a city full of taco places. They have their own taste.

Oh, as far as salsas, Las Fuentes in Reseda has my favorite salsa, a salsa negra. In combination with raw onions and diced pickled jalapenos it makes the best soft flank steak taco I've ever found. But it would not work on a Tito's taco. It's the sum of the parts that sets each apart from all others. Remember... I'm all about tacos. They're my favorite food when done right.

WJ, with all due respect, what you are saying is akin to the idea that all hamburgers are the same everywhere because they all consist of a disc of ground beef enclosed by 2 pieces of bread. ...and you know that isn't true.

Sorry, That's not what I wrote, What I wrote is based on Mar's description and the photos provided, the specific Taco's served at Tito's do not appear to be unique, and can be found locally right here in Lil Rhody

Seasonings, my man. You, the ultimate regionalist, now claim that Rhode Island Tacos =California Tacos. Next you'll be telling us about Rhode Island smoothies.

No, I'm not the ultimate regionalist, I don't even do the iconic seafood shacks, hot weiners or Pizza strips unless someone is visiting from out of town. I end up doing more mexican, Thai and Indian. If there's anything regional that Rhode Island is known for its burgers. The smoothies here still suck- I ended up going to "the best of the best" and ended up throwing it out.

I thought Rhode Island was about Coffee Milk. Seasonings is the key! 1bbqboy is correct. Remember the book and cover? CC: Las Fuentes does indeed have a fresh salsa bar. It includes a pico de gallo, a tomatillo, a red salsa and my favorite salsa negra along with other offerings like diced jalapenos, diced onions, cilantro for those that like it and radishes. A trip to Las Fuentes is also in my future.

At one time <<<Hoboken>>> held the Guinness record for having the most bars within a single mile. It's second only to New Orleans. It's first in walking. I'd bet way up there in terms of gyms and smoothies. Garden State. Last on the list for Mexican food.

Speaking of tacos and Hoboken, I watched a program on the Food Network the other night about the Pita Pit in Hoboken.

We're ranked #1 in PITA for sure! A magnet for reality shows. They did Liberty Bar as well (as episode 1)....and the entire city knew something was going on as far as a show. The windows were covered with paper during filming and camera crews clunking around.

I think the Tito's Tacos jingle will make the perfect new ringtone. I will know when it's my phone ringing...until someone else here love Tito's too.

If my employer's still handing out travel vouchers for 25-year anniversaries in 2015 I may have to make a trip to L.A. just for a Tito's Taco!

And not one is from me! I was thinking of going to Tito's today but after last night's Korean food, an entire night of heart burn, my regular Prilosec and a Zantac added just in case it might help, I think I'll wait a day or two. Getting older has it's drawbacks!
