Which Hostess Snack Will You Miss The Most?

I loved the original chocolate pies but over the years they acquired a strange after taste. The only thing I would still eat were the small chocolate covered doughnuts. But only good when fresh...Russ

I'm going to miss the Orange Cupcakes. I can do without the rest of it. Hostess much like Tastykake had gotten so flavorless it was pointless to buy. Really wish Tastykake would have gone under as well. Entemann's is the only edible snack cakes these days.

It's not a snack but I loved the Nature's Pride Nutty Oat bread. It made the best toast. Oh well, I'll have to find a new favorite. As for the snacks my wife will miss the little chocolate donut.. I always thought they left a weird film on the roof of my mouth. I did like the pies but haven't had one in quite a while.

Personally, I won't miss any of their products because I don't believe in eating anything with artery clogging trans-fats. I had my fill of these type of packaged pastries growing up with Drake's Devil Dogs. They were the consummate packaged pastry for me while growing up.

The little pink Angel Food Cakes. Haven't seen them in awhile but really loved those things. Twinkies over the years became to bland an plastic with very little cream. Probably been 15 years since I ate one.

I'll miss Chocodiles and Chocolate Pudding Pies. That said, I've been missing those for a while, since they stopped making and distributing those to this part of the country a long time ago. For Chocodiles, I had to actually bring some back from a business trip to California, since my coworkers didn't believe me when I said I used to enjoy chocolate-covered twinkies. I'm hoping whoever buys the brand has the vision to re-introduce Chocodiles to a national market! Re: Twinkies: the diner I go to all the time (Red Arrow in Manchester, NH) makes their own twinkies anyways. I like theirs better. If I could only get them to chocolate coat them...

bwave, I was wondering if anyone else here would mention the Orange Cupcakes! Those are what I will really miss. They were always pretty hard to find anyway. I usually only want them when I'm sick; it must be some childhood comfort food memory like Hot Dr. Pepper and Bean with Bacon soup... I guess I just can't ever get sick again!

I probably wouldn't miss anything since I can't even recall in my adult life of ever buying Hostess products like Twinkies and cupcakes. In my youth through college they were staples. Even for the non-sugary stuff I have grown intolerant toward store bought package bread and prefer fresh bakery or homemade bread without the additives.

I will miss Drake's coffee cakes as well as these... Drake's Fruit Pies...one of our few purchased fried pie options.... With the patient expert help of the Fried Pie Lady of Flippin (really) Arkansas this summer...this New Jersey girl can now fry a pie with the best of them.

The Golden Cupcakes. I already miss them. Can't wait till someone picks them up and starts making them again. Just hope they do it in my region.

Sorry....for me................it is the Twinkie. Plain old sponge-type cake infused with ersatz whipped cream/icing/vanilla sauce........call it what you will.........not only did it taste goood, it brought back memories. Like the cans of baby smoked oysters my friend would buy at S.S. Pierce...hated them!..........or the magal Easter Eggs of spun sugar also there with the little view inside. Or walking into Swift's Market where they mostly did meats but kept a few things on the shelf, including Twinkies for those hungry young paperboys about to start off delivering copies of the Enterprise. If anyone can place the location......they get bonus points! One Hint...............Swift's later became the marketplace bookshop

For me it'll be Drake's Devil Dogs. But the Hostess fried lemon pies and the chocolate Zingers, which I like when I can't get Devil Dogs will be missed. I've never had any of the other Hostess snack things. I've been accused of being the only human being in the world who has never tasted a Twinkie -- or wanted to. Edited to change pie to lemon. I originally wrote pineapple, but I must have been thinking about the long gone Frisbie Pie Company.

Many of the Hostess snacks you can make a good copycat with some yellow or chocolate cake mix and some marshmallow cream. But not the Snowballs. I will miss them.

I'm afraid I won't miss them at all - I haven't eaten any of these treats since high school....I've seen them in stores since but was never motivated to buy them.

I was surprised by the level of quality of Little Debbie cakes when I first tried them around the turn of the century, especially based on the low price. The ingredients are usually pretty decent for that sort of thing. Speaking of "that sort of thing", unfortunately (for me) I stopped eating it about 3 years ago, but I didn't touch Drakes or Hostess from the time I found Little Debbie to the time I stopped eating "snack cakes" altogether. At least Tastykake & Entenmann's are still rolling. God forgive me...I never liked anything from Hostess and my Mother cursed Wonder Bread every time she walked by it in the Supermarket.
