I do the fair and festival circuit and would like to upgrade to a POS. If I didn't deal with the cards, what pos would you suggest?I'd like to keep track of sales I.E fri sold xxx pp sands,xx racks of 3bone ribs xx 1/2 racks, etc. The till I have now doesn't really tell me the info I want.I guess I could do each item as a dept.but then mistakes are made trying to remember what dept is pp sand. or a soda.1k plus just isn't something I can validate.and wi-fi can be iffy on the road.I have a laptop, and I could maybe find a used Ipad or android.

I don't take cards, I use a cheap till. It has a whole bunch of PLU's that you tie to a dept. I think I use about 40 PLU's. It gives me a good break down. I print a list of PLU's and tape it to the front of the till after a while you remember the numbers.

I don't have my book in front of me but if you have a royal till it's not to hard. Price look ups. Set the till to program enter plu #, enter price, enter description, enter Dept #, or something like that. At the end of the day you run an X or Z report and it gives you what you want. I looked up Royal cash registers, 100 to 350 dollars.

I bought a new register a few months ago, initial set up was a PITA, but now it gives a detailed report. Works on plu's or you can program individual keys to each menu item. Forget the brand, but was around $250
