GLEE CLUB MEETING-- All Invited

I'd rather enjoy a few dozen than do the rapid-consumption of many more. I want to call a halt to a "race" before it gets out of control.  We aren't interested in serious competiton...but sharing Oysters & Shooters with our friends will be something to look forward to.
 
Paul, I'll check the timing and the menu again.... but I think 3 PM would be too early for us to get everyone there. I am thinking 5 PM to allow travelers to check in and "settle in" before heading out for the evening.  Has anyone been to the Admiral Semmes Hotel before? What sort of a "Lounge" does it have for our late-nite discussion group?

Of course I was!!!  I really love oysters on the half shell.  I've been craving them since I last had the Katchemak Bay variety in Alaska but I could never consume a lot of them!! 

We will share many, my friend!But dozens-no way! But who will be counting?

Can't Johnnie get a cheap flight to New Orleans or Jacksonville and drive over?  or some other 'within driving range airport.??? 

Al, I have been watching the cost of flights from BWI for over a month and everything has been consistently coming in at over $450.00.  Which is too much for a weekend trip.  I have had Pensacola, Gulfport, Montgomery and New Orleans as possible options, although the last one may be a little far.  It just doesn't look like it is possible, which is a shame.

Thank you Ladies. I do look forward to the slurping sounds drowning out the burps and belches from the beer drinkers in the group.
 
BB, I am sorry that it won't work for Johnnie to join us. He adds a "Mystery-Man" aire to the group whenever he participates. I always think of him as a young Hoffman !!
 
I still hope a few more folks will be able to join in, but we are looking at 15-18 or so and that will be a fun-sized group to share time with.

I've put in a leave request to the boss for this weekend. My current shift is Thursday-Sunday so I'll have to get time off approved. It's gonna cost me a small fortune though.
I'm looking forward to this, will help ease the pain of being the 1 year anniversary of losing Picky Peggy.

For one weekend the big table on the right will officially be called, "The Table of Knowledge".

BB, can cousin Johnnie leave earlier in the week? I going to drive down, he can ride along.

My plan was to leave on Tuesday but I could leave as late as Thursday. There'll be an overnite stop in Nashville at my cousins house. Same going home. I am somewhat flexible.

A ride can also be arranged for anyone living along the I-81, I-40, I-65 corridor. My Avalon can easily carry 4 if we pack lightly.

And I have booked a room at the Admiral whatever, 2 double beds if anyone cares to split the room cost. I'm there both Friday and Saturday.

The boss has approved the time off if my coworkers agree to cover.

Sandra and I were talking about this trip several times over the weekend including our journey to and from Charlotte to Mobile, the stops in between and meeting up with my friend Julianne and my cousin Lisa in Charlotte ,that  after seeing all the chatter between everyone I keep forgetting that this isn't going to be the "WJ and Sandra Show"

Its going to be everyone's show!!!!!!!

Oh there's going to be a show!  No doubt about it.

BTW I own 1 Hawaiian shirt, I'll reserve it for Saturday. Just not my style...

Checking the calendar Monday is a federal holiday so it'll only cost me 30 hours of vacation time.

This will be a great chance to reconnect with several of you and meet many more.

What about hitching a ride with TTM?  Would it be any easier to fly into C FL?  If TTM wouldn't mind the company

I would always welcome Cousin Johnny's company. My only issue is that I have a work event that will keep me in town Friday until at least 7 pm. That puts me on the road north pretty late. I was thinking I could maybe drive through to Tallahassee or Pensacola, if my desire to sleep holds off. I won't probably be in Mobile until Saturday morning, though. I could pick Johnny up in Orlando or Jax, if it would help him attend.
 
I do tend to pack a lot of stuff on these trips, but I could always strap Cousin Johnny to the roof of the Family Truckster.

Yeah..Hawaiian Shirts for Saturday evening at the Brick Pit.  The BBQ sauce stains blend in with the flowers etc on those shirts sooooo well !
 
WJ, We will do our best not to talk about the wild times you participated in, in your "Pre-Sandra" years.  We look forward to meeting your friend.

Not wanting to 'brag' on the Happy Hour time a couple of years ago, But I couldn't stop...5 dozen raw on the half-shell during that time..with an equal number of beers.

OK, I'm throwing the BS flag on the 5 dozen beers... 

Pogo..Sheesch, I have to talk slow for the guys from Tennessee !!! It was one brew  with each dozen shellfish...I have never been much of a beer drinker, so two was my limit, but not so with the Oysters...bring 'em on !!

Wintzells Roasted Oyster Sampler is an outstanding plate also. 4 each of four "flavors" of Roasted Oysters, with the "Rockefeller" being my favorite of that style...but they are third in line behind the raw and the fried.

Sandra and I attended the monthly gathering of the Boston crew (Ayersian, Karilyn, Paulde, Bethgrd et al. ) last night with our main meal at Charcoal Guido's in Waltham, MA
a few of us met for pre appetizers across the street at Erawam of Siam before hand, and ice cream afterwards at Lizzy's. We had a bigger crew than usual last night- 11 people since several of us brought guests, including Paulde's daughter, Sandra's sister, Karilyn's friend Heather and a friend of  the Chris half of Ayersian.
 
This is offically our first roadfood gathering of the year and will be the last before the big trip to Mobile next month
 
BTW......Al and lleechef, don't tell Sandra about the time I.........oh....you know!!.....
