Mine is Veuve Clicquot, not horribly expensive, but sooo much better than the cheap headache inducing crap on the market. What is your choice when you splurge on bubbly?

Thanks for the tip, but it's lost on me as Champagne "goes to my head" too fast and I hate "woozy". That's why I like sipping bourbon & water: I know exactly what I'm drinking and when to stop before the feeling of well-being turns to "woozy".

scrumptiouschef It's not genuine but Gruet, out of New Mexico, makes a fine bottle of bubbles http://www.gruetwinery.com/ First had Gruet seven years ago at Brigtsen's in New Orleans. Excellent! Like Chewy, my favorite is Veuve Cliquot. First heard of it as a teen watching Casablanca. At Rick's, Major Schtrauzer orders champagne and a tin of caviar. Capt Renault suggests "Veuve Cliquot '29, a good French wine."

My favorites are both, Veuve Cliquot and, Tattinger. However, I also enjoy Gruet from New Mexico very much. New Mexico! Who would have known?

Not champagne, but I do enjoy Domaine Chandon Brut. In fact, there's a bottle in the refrigerator right now, plus two more in the wine rack.

Please do. More of a take for me... when I pair the perfect courses to the horses. Not for nothin' but I can bring a bottle of Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante and still charm the judges votes.

I seldom have champagne all by itself except at Weddings. I have to admit using the cheap stuff to which I will make Mimosas or my own Cranberry, Champagne, Triple sec cocktail...with frozen Cranberries Having said that, we had stayed north of Sienna Italy a number of years ago at a winery, part of which had been converted to a luxury hotel. It was really neat......the old manor house was turned into the restaurant/lounging area..they had about 20 of the "worker houses".. made out of stone.. out back. They took about 1/3 to convert to nice hotel rooms, but left the rest for the estate workers. You'd come out for dinner to find kids running around and folks out playing cards and drinking That said....they made, of course, gallons upon gallons of Chianti..but they also made some excellent white wines. One night I had a glass...........ok...3..(we walked).....of their champagne...........FANTASTIC. I bought 2 bottles to take back to our (then) home in the UK. Although I tried for a while to find it anywhere else, it was for nought, and now alas, I have even forgotten the name of the winery So......ante up some "Christmas Bonus" and I"ll fly back to Sienna and see if I can find the place again

Was it on the sweet side? It sounds like Asti Spumante. THere may have been sugar crystals around the neck when you opened the bottle.

There should be a big sugar cube on the bottom of every glass of Asti Spumante!
