I saw the first posting on this forum topic the other evening just before going out to eat dinner, then forgot about it. Then when trying to decide what to drink with dessert I looked at the wine list and there it was close to the top, Veuve Clicquot. So there is a glass along with the cheery-apple pie at El Chorro Lodge in Phoenix.

Our house bubbly is the Roderer Estate NV Brut from California (a bargain on sale at $15/bottle). While I no longer imbibe, my wife and kids prefer Dom Perignon for a special occasion champagne (a not-so-much bargain). I've often been tempted to see if I could pass off a Mumm or Dom Ste Michelle as DP to confirm my "label snob" suspicions, but have so far resisted the urge since it's (generally) a once-a-year kind of purchase.

My wife is more of a prosecco fan than champagne and our go to bottle is Lamarca which you can usually find at Kroger for around $15.

There just happens to be a bottle of prosecco next to the Domaine Chandon in our refrigerator right now.

Chances are you cannot. Most amateurs could tell the difference. Anybody associated with the industry could tell in an instant.
