Maid-rite burgers

I am wondering if a maid-rite is the same as a loose burger sold in Detroit coney islands without chili ?

I have had Maid Rite since I went to college in Iowa in the 1960's. It's basically loose ground beef on a bun. That's about it!

Our old A&W out in central California used to serve these back in the 60's. Maybe the owners were from Iowa.

Not really. Most Maid-rites I've had resembled either a very dry sloppy joe, or a very greasy sloppy joe.

Nope, you nailed it on the head! I thought they were pretty tasty back in my college days in Iowa in the 1960's. I haven't had one in 20 years or so!

Do they usually fall apart when you pick them up?
I saw garlic salad mention on the Nu Way listing on the front page. What's that like?

I've tried the Iowa maid rite 3 x at 3 different places, I'll never go back for one again.
I just don't find them very good or interesting
I'll take one Iowa Chop at market price over 10 free maid rites any day of the week.

It's impossible to pick them up, really. "Fall apart" suggests they are semi-formed into patties, which they aren't. They are just "loose meat." That's why they are served with a spoon.

The only way to eat one burger-style is to pinch it closed at the bottom and along the sides, and even then there's bound to be a little bit of meat that escapes.
I wonder why no one's designed a pita-style bun that would solve the problem.

I guess we are getting one in Brookfield, Wi, just outside of Milwaukee. Doesnt surprise me, as Brookfield has pretty much nothing but chain restaurants. No Roadfood there!
