Scored the motherlode of dried Turkish figs and pistachios from a friend who just got back from Turkiye. Help? I'm an experienced baker and want to utilize both of these in a recipe. I'd especially like to make either muffins or cupcakes cause I just got a bad ass new muffin tin I've been dying to break in.

    Both work beautifully together in Baklava.

      How about some sort of a fig layer in a baklava topped with crushed pistachios?

          How did CC get her baklava in before mine?
           
          Switching gears...
           
          Soften figs, mix with pistachios, fill wontons, fry and then top with some kind of Asian influenced sauce.
           
          Love to cook cross-culture.

            I get a plethora if Jerseyish figs (say that 5 x fast)...straight off the tree.

              Had a tree behind my store when I had a store.
               
              Had to fight the critters to get them without tooth marks.
               
              Great grilled and stuffed with blue cheese.

                I live by the water and for some strange reason possums have decided to visit NJ. They can have some figs...as long as they leave me alone. Scary & ugly.

                  When we had our little vineyard in Healdsburg, we had a HUGE fig tree on the property.
                  There was more than enough figs on that tree for both us and the birds.

                    Put 4 cups of chopped figs in a glass bowl, cover with brandy or any liquor you like.  Let it sit for a month.  Blenderize the whole thing.  Get two boxes of pillsbury
                    quick bread like date nut or cranberry.  In a big bowl:
                    2 boxes pillsbury quickbread
                    that 4 cups of blenderized figs and alcoholic beverage
                    3 eggs
                    1/2 cup water
                    1/4 cup veg oil
                    1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg
                    1 tsp vanilla or almond essence
                    1 cup of them pistachios, chop them in a processor not too fine
                    1 jar of DRAINED marashino cherries, do not chop
                    Mix it all up by hand with a spoon, pour it into a 12 cup bundt pan greased and floured.
                    Place in a 325 oven with a pan of water next to it.  Bake it for 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes till toothpick inserted comes out clean.  Let cool completely in pan before turning out to further cool.  The pan of water in the oven next to the fruitcake will cook this evenly.  Its even better the next day, keep refrigerated.
                    This is a DELICIOUS fruit cake without all those yuckky citron chips.
