Seems to be a little bit NYC - centric. Nothing wrong with NYC, I The City, but Shake Shack ranking higher than all but 3 restaurants outside The City?!? Cut me a slackburger with cheese!

"Husk" and "FIG" in Charleston both made the list. Also The Catbird Seat in Nashville. That's an interesting place. It has a U-shaped counter wrapped around the cooking area.

The French Laundry in Yountville, CA deserves it's #1 position. I have eaten there and the food is absolutely amazing. Also in Yountville, Bouchon Bistro at #23 is fantastic.

But "ask any foodie" what the "best" restaurant in the U.S. is and Keller's places (including Per Se) will be top 'o the list, even though only a miniscule %-age have actually eaten there. Twenty years ago The Inn at Little Washington or The Mansion on Turtle Creek would have been top 'o mind. Interestingly, The Inn is still on the list as is Dean Fearning's new place in Dallas. Bottom line, I agree with Gregg: they "flavored" their NYC list with "the obvious" from the net.

A miniscule percentage of people have eaten at The French Laundry because it is very expensive........over $1000 for two.........and nearly impossible to get a reservation. I am not saying that Keller is the best in the US, but dining at his restaurant is truly an experience.
