Who do you follow on Twitter? (Food only, please) Wed, 04/3/13 11:39 AM (permalink)
I know that there aren't a ton of people here who use Twitter, but I am sure that there are some. Who are your favorite follows for food recommendations?

I have a few...

George Motz is, arguably, the country's foremost authorities on hamburgers. That, alone, should make him worthy of a follow.

Daniel Vaughn is the BBQ Editor for Texas Monthly magazine. I have been following him since I started on Twitter. He is to Texas barbecue what George Motz is to hamburgers.

Mario Batali is a hoot. He is very engaging with his followers - often posting recipes on request (or links). He has embraced the concept of social media.

Burger Days highlights the best of the burger scene in the DC/NoVA area.

You may know a guy by the name of Holly Moore from his periodic appearances around these boards. His info on Philly (among other places) is usually pretty spot on.

I don't pay much mind to Eater, but I follow many of the regional sites, like Seattle, Houston, and NYC. You can find them easily from the main Eater page.

I also follow a few of my favorite restaurants, and rather than list (and link!) them here, you can find them easily by clicking on the "following" button on my own profile.

While we don't have mobile food vendors where I live, Michael Stern, who, admittedly, doesn't Tweet much, follows a bunch...and there are tons more out there!

And....just because you should....Food porn.

Who else am I missing? Since I do travel a bunch, I tend to look for local experts (like Daniel Vaughn and Holly Moore). So, if you have such folks you know of in Texas, Seattle, Portland (OR), Kansas City, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Chicago....well, almost anywhere, I am all ears.

I follow less food tweets than I thought.

I like Mr. Breakfast. I wish he would focus more on restaurants that serve breakfast and less on recipes, but that's just me. His advice on making the perfect scrambled eggs is spot on.

Hey Travelin - you know he's got a restaurant section on his site: http://www.mrbreakfast.com/restaurant1.asp

But you're right--it's not been a major focus, and it has no pics!

          Yes--his videos are great.

Yes. His web site features more on restaurants, but his Twitter seems to be more in the way of recipes. I still gave him a follow.

I also follow High 5 Pie in Seattle. I don't know if you've ever been there, but the place is great.

I have not, but if I get up there it's definitely on my list!  I tried to get to Hoosier Mama in Chicago, but I had to leave before they would open.  I hope to go back to Chicago, though--I barely scratched the surface of that city.

Too bad you didn't make it to Hoosier Mama in Chicago, because they are the real deal!  You should also check out Bang Bang Pie Shop, which ChiTownDiner took me to just this past weekend.

As for the topic at hand, my favorite pie shop in the country, Stockholm Pie Company in Wisconsin is on Twitter, but tweets rather infrequently.  Enrico Biscotti Company here in Pittsburgh is fairly entertaining on Twitter.

I Twittered my way through Cajun country this past week. :)

Through the convenience of Twitter and an iPhone my pork tenderloin sandwich pursuits will always appear there first and I am more food centric on Twitter than Facebook. Right now I am on an RV trip mostly through Texas and Louisiana for two months.

At home I follow a few local Minnesota brew and foodies but not much nationally.

Yowza - pies AND biscuits?!?!?    Oooooh baby.  Just checked out their pics on Yelp--incredible.  Bookmarked now.
