Sorry this is last minute, but Cousin Johnny and I leave for our Northern California vacation in just two days.  We would love a few suggestions from the Roadfood community.

Saturday morning, before we tour the Winchester House, we need some ideas of where to go for breakfast in San Jose or Fremont.

On Monday, we will be driving from Oakland to Yosemite National Park, which will take us past the Stockton/Manteca/Modesto area.  We will probably be going through there around lunch time, but it might still be early enough that we could do breakfast.  And as always, we are willing to drive a reasonable distance out of the way for a great meal.

Any suggestions?

I have found a few intriguing places for lunch near Stockton, like the Waterloo Club and S & B Home Cooking, but they are both closed on Mondays.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip when you return.

I'm not a fan of Bill's Cafe, which is also in the area, but it's very popular, and has several locations in SJ:

Btw, Stacks has a freebie good through April 30:  one piece of their tropical French toast.  In order to get it, you need to have a print copy of the coupon--just showing it on your phone won't work.

I have a favorite restaurant in Modesto.  I haven't been for 15 years but it's still there.  I just checked.

It's in the northern part of Modesto on W.Orangeburg Avenue just south of where it crosses W. Briggsmore Avenue.  Orangeburg parallels US99 at that point.

I had the best machaca burrito or chorizo and egg burrito that I've ever had at Maria's.  Nothing like it near me but I draw the line at driving over 5 hours for a burrito.

Also if you like Tamarindo, theirs it top notch.
