Not that I'll personally be celebrating it, but October 14 is National Chocolate-Covered Insects Day.

    When I was a kid (late '50's) our local (Washington, PA) Howard Johnson's used to sell chocolate-covered ants as a novelty item.  Of course I just had to try. 
     
    Frankly, they did not add anything - or - to the flavor of the chocolate. 
     
    If I want "crunch" in my chocolate, give me peanuts, almonds, or even puffed rice.
