Nando's in Mesa, Az. Sat, 05/18/13 5:03 PM (permalink)
I was in the Phoenix area a couple of weeks ago.  I met up with FoodBme for dinner at Nando's Mexican restaurant.  My combo plate was excellent, but Jim ordered the marinated pork chop dinner.  That was perhaps the most eye-popping plate of food I've seen come out of a Mexican kitchen. Two enormous pork chops, grilled to perfection.  Jim shared one with me, and took the other one home to feed the neighborhood.
If you find yourself in Mesa, check it out.  Better yet, call FoodBme and take him with you.  Superb food, superb company.

That WAS a fun evening. Too bad Pete's work got in the way of us getting together for a second evening.
There's a picture of the pork chops on the web site:

If Poverty Pete likes it, then that is good enough for me.  It sure does look good in the photo on the website.

Just how many neighbors did you feed with the extra chop?  If my cousin and I come out to Arizona next year, I hope you will join us at Nando's

            Cliff,
that photo doesn't do it justice.  Jim's leftover chop filled the entire floor space of a large clamshell box, and about an inch in thickness.  It was spicy, tender, moist and all that good stuff.  Bring your camera.

                BB,
The neighbors did not get any of it. I ate the whole damn thing!

It would be my pleasure to break tortillas with you and Cousin Johnny anytime, anywhere!
Since I grew up in Western PA, (St. Marys, home of Straubs Beer), went to school at Indiana State Teachers College, (1963), lived in Butler, Punxy, Warren, Uniontown, Sharon, Parkersburg & Youngstown, I'm sure we have things to talk about!! Went to Stillers & Pirates games at Forbes Field, where every seat was guaranteed to be behind a steel girder!
My Favorite Restaurant of all time was Tambellini's up on Mt. Washington with Johnny the Maitre' D serving up magnificant Italian food! (NOT to be confused with the ones downtown)
That was back in the Mid-60's. Probably long gone.

Looking forward to it!  Johnny and I talked about the fact that ideally our trip would be an opportunity to get out of the NE Winter, so our annual vacation will most definitely be in February next year.  I will contact you ahead of time.  Hey, anyone who knows the proper spelling of Stillers is ok with me!
