I guess this kind of belongs here.
I have noticed on cooking shows and in some restaurants it has become "the thing" to serve steaks sliced/precut. Why?
I for one really do not like this. I know they have done it for years at Peter Lugars and other high end places. I just do not get it.

I always thought once you were old enough to be trusted with a knife, you should be able to cut your own meat into whatever size chunks you want to eat it.

Peter Lugars, they can always cut our steak when we dine there...for the price they charge, maybe they should assign siomebody to feed it to me also...just saying.

The steak at Peter Lugers is for two, three or for people. I have no problem with it when it's a steak for  few people. I never had a ind steak served sliced. If they do it, and you don't like it, tell them not to........pnwc

I hope they let the steak "rest" a few minutes after it's cooked at Peter Luger's Steakhouse before they cut it.
Other than Peter Luger's, I'd much rather cut my own steak, please.

We have a great steak place here in Milwaukee named the 5 Oclock Club. Its in the middle city. Every steak is one pound or more. Its up to me to cut my steak-they will do it if you want. I think Peter Lugers is known for this.  I understand they have great food. If you don't want them to do this-don't go there.

I am sure its so they can give you a smaller portion and make it look larger...Russ
