I run a fast paced restaurant. Currently we send our customers to the cash register to pay the bill rather than paying the server at the table. I was just wondering if anyone has any input on what is better, pay the server or pay at the cash register. What are the benefits and negatives of both?

The main reason we like pay at the cash register is because we are able to clean and seat new customers at a table before the previous customers are even finished paying. This speeds up our table turn over. I'd like to hear other arguments for both ways of doing it. Thanks a lot.
