My mother's vegetable soup, I have yet to duplicate it, unfortunately.

      Hi Preetic,

I'd love some of your recipes

      Spicy pineapple sounds very interesting.

World's best soup? Hmmm...Toss up, but both were in Hong Kong and exceptionally memorable. The French Onion Soup at the Peak Restaurant on HK Island was the best I've had anywhere. The Clam Chowder at the old Lindy's Steak House was also great. Don't know that I've had better anywhere else.

Salmon Soup with Aioli Sauce from Emmett Watson's Oyster Bar in the Pike Place Market, Seattle, WA. Yum!!!

Cream of chicken rice at the 4 chefs caterers in NE Philly (no longer there)
Crab bisque at The Old Wharf on the Chester River in Chestertown MD (I just googled the old wharf and sadly that is gone as well)
Mulligatawny made with my mother's recipe (THAT I have)

Oh, I remember that crab bisque, they served it with a small glass of sherry for you to add to your taste!  I remember the restaurant was hit badly by a storm but reopened for a time elsewhere.
As far as the best soup I've had, well, that was my Mom's Maryland style crab soup.  She taught me how to make it but I just can't touch hers!

The best soup I ever had was in Charleston, South Carolina.  She Crab Soup at a place near the Slave Market.
It was also served with a pitcher of sherry, but didn't need it at all.
This was in the '90s before I noted the names of restaurants.

                  Ooh, that sounds so good!
I'm voting for the clam chowder at Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach, CA.

One of my favorite all-time soups was the lobster bisque I had years ago at The Saxonburg Inn just north of Pittsburgh.

In recent months, I've discovered a shrimp-corn chowder that I believe is only available at Giant Supermarkets, and possibly only in the Philadelphia region. It comes in one-quart containers near the deli and pre-cooked food section. If it's not the best soup I've ever had, it's definitely in the top five.
I guess the various lobster stews in Maine wouldn't count. Although I think of those as a soup and could pick almost any of the lobster stews I've had up there over the years as one of my favorites.

I also really enjoy the Maryland crab soup at the Crab Trap in Somers Point, NJ

there are so many good soups!
Most of the best are eaten on rainy or snowy days, or days when you feel a little low- thats why  Moms way back when  had soup waiting when you came home from school for lunch- Moms way back when  knew that soup has a magical quality. They learned that from their mothers .
My grandma made a good soup- a little of this, a little of that , but the prime ingredient were bones , and we used to pick out the marrow. The marrow was like gold ,and us kids used to exclaim `I just got a big piece' or ` you would not believe the piece I just got"
These days my favorites are a pea soup I  make  with plenty of ham like Mom used to make , the clam chowder at durgin park in boston ( wish I could make that) and the cream of mushroom at pals cabin in nj.. but  as to the worlds best soup , any good soup ,made with love , esp in winter and  on a day when your spirit really needs soup - thats the worlds best soup !

Well I like too many to have one favorite but I really enjoy the lobster bisque I buy at my local seafood store, Anchor Seafood. They have a lot of homemade items and that has to be one of my favorites!

My mom's lintel soup with sliced hot dogs. Not gourmet but when you grow up in upstate New York and you are 7 years old and  it's about 10 degrees out it's the best in the world!

Living in Nova Scotia with neighbours as lobster trappers the best soup I ever tasted is my own homemade lobster chowder.  It is probably more like a stew.  Tons of lobster, sherry, mushrooms, cream, potatoes, onion and celery, served with homemade warm bread.  So yummy!
Another soup the family loves also is the Gavin Crawford's Chicken, Avocado and Chipotle Soup.  So easy to make, especially if you have leftover chicken or turkey.

Well, I guess I'll bump this...was looking for some soup inspiration and it brought me here so I thought I would add some...
MY - MD Crab soup...I've been told it's the best ever by hundreds!!
Clams Casino Chowder - Avalon Country Club, Swainton, NJ
She Crab Soup - Bobby Dee's Rockin Chair, Avalon, NJ
My momma's stuffed pepper soup, which actually eats more like a chili than a soup...

Tomato soup is the best soup ever it. Anytime you can make it and enjoy the delicious food. It's very easy to make and nutritious to eat.

Hey Towson.  I went to Towson U!
Back to the task at hand, Best Soup: I had mozzarella soup at the Four Season Milan which was amazing! For the local vibe, Seafood Gumbo at Joey D's Oak Room in Atlanta, and always a favorite- MD Crab Soup (which tastes semi like Campbell's vegetable soup with crab).
