We're headed to Mt. Airy this weekend for a pork chops sandwich at Snappys. Anyone know any other place that we should not miss in that area?

We won't make it for the weekend, but plan on stopping on our way home from the BigPigJig Oct 3 or 4

There is a town close to Mayberry called Pilot Mountain that the TV Mount Pilot was fictionalized after. I have some friends that live in Pilot Mountain. She was from Mayberry-her Dad went to school with Andy Griffith and then she married a guy from Pilot Mountain

There is also a state park on Pilot Mountain. The rock formation on top of the mountain resembles the wheel on a ship.

I don't know when you are planning to get to Mount Airy (Mayberry)
but I heard on the News last night that Andy Griffith will be there on Friday to unveil the Statue that TV Land has created for Mayberry.

Well, we're back from Mayberry! Snappy's pork chop sandwich is as good as ever. We were in line for about an hour and it was worth every minute. It was amazing to see so many license plates from distant states represented in the parking areas. The town folks are so friendly. One lady served us coffee while we were sitting in from of her shop waiting for the parade. We also found a wonderful restaurant in Fancy Gap. I'll review it on that site.
