Well Danimal, all I know is that in other areas of the county, cheese and corned beef (or pastrami) are served together and somehow, life goes on despite it all :-)
Oh, we Cincinnatians don't put beans in our chili...
and bbq is more about the sauce and less about the meat....
(etc etc etc)
