the perfect taco shell

after visiting a dear friend in Austin who took me to Jorge's, where we dined on tacos garcia, I discovered I had found the perfect taco shell (as well as a damn fine restaurant). since my return to west Texas, I have quested for that same perfect taco shell, to no avail. ya know, hot, bubbly, soft but doesn't tear, crunchy but doesn't fall apart corn tortilla. I even tried to make them at home. HA! the closest I have come is surprisingly, El Chico's. damn fine mexican martinis there too. served with a 2nd serving in the shaker. alas, they do not have jalapeno stuffed olives. can't have a martini without them, IMO. so I bring my own.

We have a small chain in town called Taco Boy... I visited the Cascade location a few weeks ago and the shell was just the way you described it... PERFECT! I'm not sure how they did it, but same as you, I was trying to analyze this for days in my head... I've made many a taco shell in my day, but never that good!
